About this property
Panoramic Views- Nature- Northern lights cottage- NO 1- in Iceland.
You are in a National Park area- This is the most beautiful part of Iceland - No 2 in the the top 10 best places to see the Northern lights in Iceland. https://www.northernlightsiceland.com/best-place-to-see-northern-lights-in-iceland/ With its glistening white cone visible from Reykjavík on a clear day, Snæfellsjökull is the most potent and enduring symbol of Snæfellsnes. If the glacier weren't there, however, the manifold wonders of Snæfellsnes would stand out just the same. Snæfellsjökull, (1,446 m) an ancient cone volcano, one of finest mountains in Iceland. An impressive sight from as far away as Reykjavík, from where it can be seen in clear weather, seeming to rise from the sea. Many prehistoric eruptions took place in the glacier-covered crater at its peak, and its slopes are covered with lava. The glacier is fairly easy to climb, about 4-6 hours to the highest peak, Þúfur. At the eastern base is a Tourist Association hut, now in ruins. The glacier dominates the area, the western part of which is covered with lava and known as “under the glacier”. In Jules Verne’s novel, A Journey to the Center of the Earth.

The best place we stayed in Iceland!Beautiful property and excellent base for exploring the Snæfellsnes peninsula with our hire car. Incredible views from the window of a nearby church and very little light pollution. Able to hike to Arnarstapi via the lava fields straight out the front door. Property was comfortable, clean and cosy. Kitchen well equipped. Very helpful having a washer/dryer. Price was very fair for how wonderful it was!
Beautiful location with scenery that is absolutely glorious! This is the perfect home for two. It is small, but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The stairs to the bedroom are challenging as they are very steep. We both just made sure we hung on to the railing to make certain we did not fall. Very clean property. Perfect as a jumping off point for the sites of the peninsula.
Lovely house with everything you could need for a nice stay. Enjoyed having the hotel nearby with a restaurant when I didn't feel like cooking.Great walks starting from the area too.
We had a wonderful stay at the Jules Verne cottage. The property was clean, comfortable, and well furnished. The location is amazing and the views are beautiful. Owners were communicative and easy to reach with questions. Highly recommend!
The property is absolutely beautiful, could not ask for a better location. It was clean and had plenty of space. The restaurants near by were very good and the host was very quick to respond when I needed help with something. My only disappointment was there was not a bathtub like the pictures showed. host was very quick to respond

Hi Erin- welcome back anytime :) it was a pleasure to be in contact with you :)
reg. bathtub? never has been a bathtub? only a shower- don´t know where you saw that picture-?
We had a great stay here. The cottage is very cosy and equipped with everything you need. From the door are beautiful walks along the coast to Arnastapi, or the national park is only a couple of minutes away. Gestur and Berglind were very helpful before we arrived and explained everything we needed to know. I would definitely recommend coming here!
This lovely place in Hellnar was a wonderful restful place to make our home base during a few days on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The cottage is lovely and clean and well-equipped. It was easy to explore the national park and there is a lovely hiking trail to the next town Arnarstappi. We cooked at home a few nights and had an amazing dinner at the local hotel (just a short walk down the road). Definitely would stay here again!

This is lovely, clean, comfortable home in a remarkable location.
This was a great getaway for my wife, 18 year-old son and I. The kitchen is well appointed, the beds were comfortable, and the whole home is easy to live in. Hellnar is really nicely placed to see the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. The surrounding hikes are easy to get to and pretty amazing. Like the rest of Iceland, the weather can be anything in Hellnar, but this house is always a delightfully comfortable place to be.

A charming cottage in a captivating countryside. The only disappointment was the stairs. They were too steep for my dad to climb, so he ended up on the couch for our stay.
