About this property

Beautiful boutique self-catering cottage with wood burner, parking & EV charger.

Bumblebee Cottage offers superb two bedroom luxury accommodation in the ancient market town of Pickering, on the edge of the North York Moors.

Tucked away, the cottage is a beautiful oasis and an ideal spot to enjoy a quiet retreat whilst still having the benefits of the town on your doorstep. The cottage is easily accessed with private off-road parking for up to 4 cars with an additional secure garage space for pedal and motorbikes.

Inside, the cottage is beautifully finished, with incredible décor and attention to detail. The living room is wonderfully homely, with a feature fireplace as the focus of the room, complete with wood burning stove. There is a sofa and two arm chairs, and a unique natural wood coffee table which finishes the space perfectly. The television also comes with all the streaming platforms provided, so you will have access to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Sky Movies.

In the kitchen/diner there is a lovely bench seating area around the glass-topped dining table, making a great social space for spending time together. The kitchen is bright, modern and very well equipped, having dishwasher, washer, full oven, microwave, kettle and toaster. The back door provides access to a drop off area where bikes can be stored.

Up the steep stairs - typical of a cottage with this heritage - the luxury finish continues with a king size bed in the master and a sit down dressing table with mirror. The second bedroom has a double bed and a full size single, offering great flexibility to welcome up to four guests in total if desired.

The shower room is very smartly finished, with neutral tones and décor. There is a generously sized walk in shower enclosure, basin, towel rail and WC.

Outside, there is a furnished patio area with planted borders looking out across the private garden, ideal for relaxing in the afternoons after your day of adventuring!

The parking and garage facilities are second to none at Bumblebee Cottage - brilliant if you are visiting for motor shows, local rallying, or have bikes and a lot of outdoor gear. There is private parking behind electric gates for 4 vehicles, and parking for an additional vehicle in-front of the electric gates. A top of the range Electric Vehicle Charging point is available to use, a rarity for holiday properties locally, which is no extra cost and can be connected to your phone via an app for ultimate convenience. Inside the garage, there is also secure clean storage space for motorbikes and for walking/hiking gear, and bike racks for bicycles.

Pickering is probably most famous for its tourist attractions such as the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, the medieval Castle, the Beck Isle Museum, its world renowned 1940s event in October and the stunning Saxon Church with its world-famous 15th century wall paintings. It is a thriving town with an historic market place which is packed with excellent independent retail businesses offering everything from bikes and outdoor gear to local produce and crafts, antiques and gifts. Alongside the independent retailers, you’ll find plenty of cafés, tearooms, restaurants, pubs and bars, with something to suit every age and preference.

There are over 2,300km of paths and tracks on the North York Moors making it a hiking and cycling paradise. There are short strolls and half day walks along the superb Cleveland Way National Trail, which can be explored in circular sections. Sutton Bank offers challenging bike rides and spectacular views. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot the upland birds or venture to the coast. Within the North York Moors National Park are the high cliffs and rocky shores of the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage Coast with many fishing villages, sandy beaches, and a coastline rich in natural flora and fauna to explore as well. The dark skies at night are also something to behold with the area being designated an International Dark Sky Reserve in 2020.

Perfectly wonderful
We couldn’t fault this wonderful cottage and its high end touches such as the bedding, the furniture and furnishings and the ability to explore North Yorkshire from any direction. We will return. Sadly no dogs are allowed so we had to leave our little pup with the in laws.

Lovely break, lovely cottage
Beautifully clean and well equipped cottage. Easily walkable into Pickering and local pubs and restaurants. We visited in February and the cottage was lovely and warm, would love to return in the summer.

Bee-autiful cottage
Immaculately clean (possibly the best we've ever seen), modern fixtures and fittings, great location, ev charger, friendly/helpful host, ample parking, welcome gift. Nothing, it's great as it is.

Lovely Place to stay
The owner was fantastic at being in touch with me, left a lovely hamper of food and drink and she had thought of everything in the cottage including extras such as washing up liquid, kitchen towel and tin foil. I highly recommend this cottage.

Fabulous location and cottage!
Fabulous location, cottage and so much more. We've enjoyed so much about this week its hard to know where to start other than to say thank you to Jeanine and Jon. We loved our Oliver's Mount racing Sunday. It brought back great memories and created new ones. We will come back to your lovely cottage. Keep doing what you are doing! Thank you!
