About this property

The Shop Loft in Historic Nob Hill

Come visit our Shop Loft located down the street from the University of New Mexico and Nob Hill! It's a clean, bright space with tons of windows! Drink a martini in its private garden, make a meal to share with friends on the patio, and wash your clothes in your own washer and dryer! This is definitely a great place to repair, create and imagine! Everyone is welcome! Join us today!

This is called the Shop Loft because of it has always been a cool and creative space! Once used to repair cars and create art work, it is now a relaxing, minimalist home! We love keeping the details of its previous life, including the cement floors, as well as the exposed bolts and beams. Yet, it is filled with everything you could possibly want while on your stay. We have a tv (various streaming apps available on DVD player, plus a few curated DVDs, Sorry no Cable TV), wifi, charging stations, towels, dishes, coffee pot, iron, and mugs. Our favorite feature, of course, is the large door which expands the whole length of the room and opens up to the beautiful patio with grapes, strawberries and huge pecan trees! Albuquerque has such great weather, we can't help but bring the outside in, as much as possible!

Neighborhood overview
Location is key! Our Shop Loft is special because we are just steps away from the University and all the shops and the character that Albuquerque has to offer! The neighborhood right next to the university is eclectic, full of students, artists, locals and everything in between! You will not be bored. We have a grocery store around the corner, our favorite Mexican restaurant, El Patio, is up the street, along with the Brick Light District which offers shops, restaurants, coffee shops and more! You really don’t need to get in a car once you arrive.

Getting around
Rapid Transit bus system is two blocks away on Route 66 (Central Avenue).

If you have any questions, let us know! My husband and I love New Mexico and as much as we love to travel, we are always happy to come back home! We can’t wait to share our home with you!

I would live here!!

I absolutely loved the Shop Loft. It’s so cute, convenient and creative. Chris and Chris have that thing stalked with anything you could need. It felt like a true home away from home. This was my favorite vacation rental experience by far. If this is open book it, will not disappoint.

Industrial Feeling loft

This property is very neat and clean. It does have an industrial feel since the ceiling is steel beams and electrical wires exposed. The glass wall which opens onto a private courtyard is really nice in the middle of the University area of the city.

Awesome experience

This was the perfect property for me. Quuet location, very relaxing and private. Yet close enough to enjoy all types of activities and dining options Kitchen was stocked beyond anticipation, bed was very comfortable. Hosts were very easy to reach if needed. Also offered lots of information on the area to help guests find their way around. I will definitely stay here again. I would honestly plan my stay on the availability of this property!

Great studio in a great location!

Though technically a studio, the layout is such that it feels like you have much more space than a typical studio layout. The place is clean and the kitchen is well stocked... though I should note that we did not use it much. The location is great (very close to UNM and a bunch of great restaurants/breweries).

I only wish I could've stayed longer.

My 8 year old son and I shared the space for a brief weekend in Albuquerque, just long enough to get a taste of what this well-appointed, and completely unique guest house has to offer. The convenience of the Shop Loft's central University location cannot be overstated. We could've stayed a week and not seen half of what's available in the immediate area. Whilst situated in the midst of vibrant Nobb Hill, the Loft feels incredibly private, set behind a private residence amidst a fenced thicket of nut trees and grapevines. The Shop itself is a converted metal building, with high ceiling with revealed I-beams and blue painted concrete floors. The contemporary interior is practically furnished, divided into 2 main spaces, and has a clean, open feel, especially with light pouring in from the glass doors along the length of the building. The kitchen came well-stocked with all the essentials for cooking, a full-size fridge, and plenty of seating. Everything was clean and fresh, the bed posh and comfortable, and all details were thoughtfully attended to by the hosts. It was perfect for the purpose of our visit, and I hope it's available next time.

Great stay during the month of March

I spent 4 weeks in the shop loft and very satisfied with my stay. As mentioned in other reviews, the apartment is very well equipped and located within walking distance of several local stores and restaurants. The place looks exactly as it's shown in the pictures with the exception of the couch which has since been updated to a comfortable sleeper sofa. Plenty of extra towels and bed linens are provided and the kitchen has everything one needs to make home-cooked meals. The wall-to-wall windows look amazing and would have gotten a lot more use if I'd been there in a warmer time of year. Chris was very attentive when contacted. All in all my expectations were exceeded during the month I spent at the shop loft. Some things to note: The TV is wall-mounted in the bedroom so if you planned to sit on the couch and watch something you won't be able to. Also, the parking is a bit different. I found that backing into the spot made it easier to leave in the morning. I am giving the loft 5 stars because neither of these items caused me any problems, but I'm including them to give others a full picture of what to expect. The positives far outweigh any parking challenges and Albuquerque has so much to offer that I did not miss TV at all. Great spot!

Perfect location, spacious and comfortable

Chris has done a fantastic job of creating a quiet, spacious studio with high ceilings. The linens (bedsheets, towels, etc.) are luxurious, the shower is large and has plenty of hot water, and the kitchen is expertly equipped. The lighting fixtures can be set for high lights, or soft romantic lights. One tip - You might want to bring slippers, because there are rugs, but the floor is painted cement. We loved being able to walk to coffee shops and restaurants. Don't miss Duggan's Coffee right down the block. It's a great place for breakfast.

We did not stay at the loft!

First there wasn’t regular TV as advertised, the driveway was too challenging , the windows were challenging to open , the lighting system was challenging , we did not stay here but opted for a hotel instead ! I hope we atleast get our deposit back

Peaceful modern oasis at walking distance to the Bricklight district!

The loft us spacious, and fun to live in. The patio is the perfect outdoor space to relax and have a meal. All this only 5 min walk to the restaurants and coffee shops in the Bricklight district. Also 5 min walk to Smith's grocery store. Chris and Chris are always one text message away and available to help you. I look forward to be back at the Loft in a few more days!

What a find!

This is one of those places that is the true essence of why we become dedicated to vacation rentals! Chris & Chris are way laid back and thoughtful. It was raining when we met Chris and he brought dog towels for our furry friends. We were in ABQ because one dog needed surgery @ VCA and they were exceptionally understanding allowing us to stay beyond check out to accommodate late pick up. The enclosed yard is perfect for a city getaway with two large dogs. The place is very well crafted by Chris with cool details — also funky with exposed conduit and unpainted plywood done tastefully. If that's not your style, find something else. We'll return and highly recommend this gem!
