About this property
Large gite located in the countryside in a protected environment
The gîte can accommodate up to 12 people and has a national 4-star rating.
The quality of its environment and the services offered place it in the category of 'gites de charme'. Its windows overlook the north side of the Manoir de Vonnes, a listed building, and the garden from which the occupants benefit.
Inside the gite, the fittings are made of old materials or their modern equivalent: terracotta tiles, woodwork. A beautiful entrance hall leads to a spacious kitchen opening onto a large living room with a wood-burning stove, a dining room, six bedrooms and five shower rooms, a laundry room. This layout will allow you to live comfortably with family or friends. The living room opens onto a large terrace and the park.
Everything has been designed for your comfort: soundproofed rooms (double-skinned partitions, soundproofed tablecloths), comfortable and adjustable bedding (double bed or 2 single beds), internet connections in the rooms.
Vonnes and its history
The manor of Vonnes was built in 1610 by Horace des Jardins, comptroller general of wars and mayor of Tours. The building rests on older foundations and the spiral staircase was also probably a remnant of the old construction.
The manor of Vonnes has undergone few transformations over the centuries: it was probably never completed. It lacks skylights, the floor has not been partitioned while two fireplaces are installed there and have never been used. The door and window tax put the building to sleep: almost all the openings were walled up in 1822. Vonnes then became a farm.
In the same family since 1735, Vonnes begins to be reborn in 1939 thanks to Jean de Montlivault who rehouses the farmers in the annex building and undertakes the restoration which will last three generations: progressive opening of windows and skylights, repair of ceilings, floors, creation a terraced garden on the south side and demolition of agricultural buildings on the north side; creation of a balustrade for the porch, repair of the roofs, restoration of the spiral staircase... Today, Vonnes has almost regained its charm of yesteryear.

About the host
Hosted by Host

As owners of the listed manor house, which is open to visitors, we were frequently asked if we had a gite. To meet this demand, we decided to convert an old outbuilding of the manor into a very comfortable gite. So, from this exceptional site, they can discover our beautiful region. We are happy to share our knowledge of the area with them, offering advice on visits, restaurants and activities, as well as good addresses... The region is not lacking in resources!
