Traditional House Kal With Whirlpool, Semič, Slovenia

The house is a typical village architecture of the Bela Krajina region with a traditional barn, which has a wine cellar on the ground floor and a summer kitchen with a large covered terrace for socializing guests. Here, the owners prepare local traditional dishes by prior arrangement, accompanied by quality local wine. The house is facing SW and thus the sun shines all day and offers a beautiful view of the garden and the village. There is a meadow around the house, in one part there is a covered arbor, which provides shade for a pleasant rest. On the ground floor of the house is a completely separate room with a double bed, two comfortable armchairs and a bathroom with shower, funnel and toilet - in this room a pet is allowed. In front of the room is a large paved terrace with a wooden canopy, which is overgrown with vines and offers pleasant shade in the sun. On the ground floor of the house you climb the stairs to the wooden balcony and from here is the main entrance to the house. Followed by a hallway, from which to the right is the entrance to the kitchen with dining area, which also has a brick stove, where on colder days you cook and at the same time pleasantly warm the room. To the left of the hallway is a spacious living room with two massive beds, which during the day offer comfortable sitting while socializing and watching TV. There is also a brick fireplace, which you light with wooden logs and conjure up a romantic atmosphere and pleasant natural warmth in the room. On this floor there is an even smaller bathroom with shower, sink and toilet under a fairly steep staircase that leads to the next floor. There is a small hallway and a bathroom with shower, funnel and toilet. To the right is a larger room with a double bed and a separate single bed, a desk and a large LCD TV. To the left of the hallway is a smaller south-facing room with a double bed and twin beds, a work desk and a large LCD TV. The house is fully heated and cooled via a heat pump, free WIFI is available in all rooms. The furniture is a mix of modern with original restored old solid pieces; curtains, bedspreads and tablecloths are made of home-made canvas and decorated with hand-embroidered craftswomen. The surrounding area offers many opportunities for active holidays: hiking and biking trails, riding school, paraglider and hang glider take-off, the warmest Slovenian river which reaches 25 degrees in summer for swimming and canoeing and kayaking, where you can try fishing, nearby the forests offer hunting and photo safaris, and the nearby Terme offers relaxation in the Wellness and refreshment in the thermal water. In winter there is a small ski resort nearby, where there is a ski school and cross-country trails. For excursions there are surrounding places, cultural and natural sights, sacral and archeological monuments and traditional events of Bela Krajina.
