About this property

2 bed dog-friendly cottage minutes from the beach

Lavender Cottage is a newly renovated 2-bed bolthole, minutes from Aldeburgh & Thorpeness coast. It is a charming new-to-market holiday home that has been completely renovated whilst retaining its rustic cottage charm. As you turn into Post Office Road, you are met with a little row of quaint cottages facing the village green, with parking, pretty gardens and a pleasant outlook.

It has much to offer: two bedrooms, an enclosed, secure back garden, a country-style kitchen and bathroom, and beautiful designer decor. You enter the house via the lounge area, which is light and bright, full of charm, and with stairs leading off. A nautical coastal charm throughout, with added touches such as rope handles, brass fittings and country green decor. The kitchen is newly installed in a coastal blue, with tiled flooring, plenty of cupboard and counter work space, a large aspect window overlooking the garden and patio area, and access to the family bathroom. The Dining area features a wooden table and chairs for four people. The family bathroom features a large walk-in shower, bath with shower-over, basin and WC. The master bedroom has a double bed, stunning bespoke wallpaper and matching linens, a wooden unit and a hanging space. The second is a small double room with hanging space, bedside tables and a seaside theme, again with bespoke blinds and decor. There is a small, newly laid patio and garden area, with an outdoor dining set offering complete privacy and security for dogs and kids. Ambient lighting, railway sleepers, and shrubs all add to the pleasantness of the little sun trap retreat. There is also a small courtyard garden with a bistro garden set. It is another area to watch the world go by and listen to nothing but birds tweeting in the trees above.

8/10 Good

Lovely cottage in the middle if nowhere
The cottage is lovely, refurbished to an excellent standard, and if you are looking for some quiet between the country and the coast, this is just the right thing. Please note that there is no washing machine on the property. We were booked for five nights and asked for a mid-term clean, which wasn't possible, and we also didn't get any fresh towels for five days which I think is a bit sickening. Everything was perfect except for the communication with east-coast hideaways, which made me feel that my request for a cleaning and fresh towels was entirely unreasonable. I would no longer book with this agency, although I would book the cottage again if it were with someone else. Very cute little place.

In 2021, my best friend Lou and I went to a luxury apartment in Wells next the Sea on our annual weekend away. With views over the harbour, a bottle of wine, and obligatory fish and chips, we couldn’t help feeling disappointed with the level of service we’d received from the agency we’d booked with. That trip turned out to be the start of something pretty special. Before we’d even left, we’d come up with the idea for a new business: to promote stunning holiday homes in Norfolk and Suffolk while providing a fully managed and bespoke service that nobody else was offering. We came home, decided on the branding, ethos, values, and target market, and launched with just two properties on board. Their dedicated owners put all their faith in us to make this venture successful, and we hope we’ve made them proud.

We’re committed to handpicking properties that meet or exceed our standards and fulfil everything we’d want from our holidays. Most of our properties are incredibly dog-friendly, and all welcome kids. A qualified changeover team manages our hot tubs, recruits all housekeepers, carries out monthly spot checks, and asks all owners to provide hotel-grade linens and towels.

My love for traveling stemmed from working as a Tour Operator as my first role after leaving school, along with gaining qualifications in Travel Services, living in Spain as a kid, family holidays to the South of France, being lucky enough to visit lots of Caribbean islands and Europe, then later in life, travelling and working in the Cook Islands, New Zealand, and Australia, before relocating to Norfolk in 2006.
