About this property
Stunning Skylight Apartment in the heart of Fez
A lovingly restored traditonal medina house with modern touches. This 1 bedroom flat in the centre of the old city (Medina) of Fez gives you an opportunity to step back in time. Located off a popular street Tala Sghira, close to shops, local market, bakery and beautiful square. At the top of the house the amazing roof terrace offers sweeping 36o degree views of the medina, some of the best that you will find in Fez. Fast internet throughout the house.
The space
Experience life at the very heart of this vibrant city, the ancient medina (city) of Fez. Over 300 years old, the house was renovated in 2009, and now offers two special one bedroom apartments, each with private bathroom, kitchen, living area and double bedroom. It provides the perfect space to experience medina life, while providing a relaxing retreat to escape to after a day exploring the maze of streets. The incredible roof terrace offers 360 degree views over the medina, the ideal place to relax at sunset and listen to the call to prayer.
This apartment is on the third floor, with windows looking out over Fez and a special skylight over the living room, making it light and airy. There is one bedroom (with double bed or twin beds - please tell us what your preference is so we can make it up for you) a central living room area with large table and corner sofa for two. The kitchen in spacious, with fridge, gas stove and oven, and is well equipped. The ideal space to cook up the produce from the local market. The zellij (tiled) bathroom is just down a few steps, through a small door, with a good shower.
Up a few flights of stairs up is the panoramic roof terrace, which is shared with the lower flat, but you will often find you have it all to yourself. There is a washing machine in the basement of the house.
Guest access
There are two flat on the premises, so the roof terrace is shared between the 2 apartments. The only shared spaces are the street entrance, stairs up to terrace and terrace. The entrance to the individual apartments and apartments are private. Each has its own private kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom.
Other things to note
Due to the many narrow staircases in the house, it is not suitable for people with limited mobility. Please note that as the apartment is on the second floor and has many windows, some street noise filters up. With no cars, this is just the sound of passing donkeys, children on their way to school, and friends catching up outside. The Apartment allows a fascinating glimpse into Medina life from a place of seclusion. Things usually quieten down in the early evening, although in the hot summer months when people make more of their life outside, it may go on a little later.
