The Best

This place is outstanding and we would live there if we could. A week in the Ochoco National Forest without the distraction of cellphones or internet was great and my family had an amazing time just relaxing as well as exploring the plethora of off-road/ forest service roads in the area. Close enough to town that you can make a trip to get groceries or dinner yet far enough away to enjoy quiet solitude.

Wonderful place to get away

This was a really amazing property. The location next to the national forest and also a sweet town Prineville to explore. There also were the Painted Hills and Sheep Rocks nearby that were amazing to go to. The cabin itself was really wonderful and already stocked with some tea coffee and even some cereal. The bathroom and bedroom were very clean and also very cozy. Also, the Landlords were extremely friendly and helpful. We loved this location.

Perfect

This is a very nice property in a very peaceful, lovely spot. It was nice to unplug. Although there was no AC, the house stayed cool on the hottest of days. The home was well-stocked with everything needed. We highly reccomend The Barn on Mark's Creek.

A week to escape!

Loved the property. House stayed cool even in the heat of the day. It was centrally located for everything we wanted to do. Ron and his wife are wonderful people and great to visit with. Bed was extremely comfortable. Going back in September. Thank you again.

Cool retreat from heat

It had everything we needed, including a very comfortable bed. A great place to end a day of exploring the area especially in the summer heat, it was nice and cool to come back to.

Peaceful, hospitable launchpad for exploration

We enjoyed staying in this peaceful, quiet, clean place, in the lush Ochoco mountain area--no distractions from TV or wifi, and plenty of outdoor areas to go explore. Ron was a gracious host. Also, the bathroom floor is amazing! Our girls were excited to see the horses, the couches were versatile and comfortable (so much so that we are inspired to make our own like them), and the rest of the apartment was likewise comfortable. If we can we will look forward to coming back.

Great barnominium

Way better than a hotel as it had a full kitchen and every type of utinsell that no hotel could hope to match, from the standard coffee maker and pots/pans to blenders and other small appliances to all the little extra condiments to even walking sticks. And very clean. Check out the bathroom floor with it's thousands of pennies all laminated together. A big 👍

Comfortable and Relaxing

We spent 5 nights using this barndaminium as home base exploring the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Everything in the apartment was very nice. Comfortable bed, well appointed kitchen and bathroom. We cooked a couple dinners using the available charcoal grill. We enjoyed the coolevenings listening to the wind in the pines, petting the horses and watching the birds.

Star gazing trip

We had a great visit to the property to view the Perseid meteor shower. We enjoyed the barndominium and walking in the forest behind the property. The location was a great jumping off point for further adventures, like the Two Pillars trail and Mitchell.

Grandkids asked if we could call it "Home"

Difficult to overstate the wonderful accommodations and gracious host. Perfect for our needs to access the Fossil Beds, and setting was stunning. Grand kids fell in love with it and are already asking to go back. Planning on it! Thanks Ron.

Beautiful peaceful location!!!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the property! It's extremely clean and the pictures don't really do it justice. We saw gorgeous stars at night and walked the forest service trails that the property accesses daily. Ron was super easy to work with and the unit has everything you need. It was nice to be off the grid and have some peace! We were worried it might get hot as there is no a/c, but it was very cool even at the hottest points of the day. We had a great time and would rent it again in the future!!!

This lodging was TOP NOTCH!

We had a truly spectacular stay at Ron and Sally's ranch. It was absolutely beautiful! The accommodations were very clean, and all was in order when we arrived. The unit has everything you would need for a comfortable stay. (We were a group of three adults.) We had never visited this area of Oregon before, so we didn't really know how the ranch's location would work with our planned activities. It turned out to be perfectly located! It was an easy and pleasant drive to the Painted Hills, to Fossil (for fossil digging!), and to the best public agate bed we have ever seen. (Ron gave us good directions to find the agate site.) It was fun to look at the horses on the property. Since we had a lot of things to do, it did not bother us that this was "off the grid," i.e., no TV or Internet. Instead, it was a very pleasant break from the distractions of daily life. There are many other things to do in that area in regard to outdoor recreation. We will look forward to returning to this lovely property!

Remarkable location - comfort and peace found here

A special find. Ron and Sally are exceptional hosts, their “Barndominium” clean, spacious, very comfortable and a great base for hiking, biking, and star gazing. Stay active or unplug, relax and just enjoy the peace and beauty of the surrounding National Forest. Highly recommended!

Disappointed

Owners son lives in a RV next to the apartment. Property is advertised as come and experience the peace and quiet of the Ochoco mountains. The homeowners son blasted his stereo in the evenings, even with the doors and windows closed we could not get away from the noise. The water recycling system next to the bedroom wall is very noisy.

Beautiful and peaceful country living stay—just a few quick changes will make it perfect!

We had a very nice stay. I’d say everything was super clean and pleasant. We did have a few suggestions to make it even more wonderful. We were cooking and found that the can-opener was broken, so that was a challenge opening up a can. Quick easy fix of course. We were wishing that the bedroom had a larger bed. We are used to a king size bed and are not tiny people. So we didn’t get much sleep. It was very comfortable, but VERY small. It had a beautiful window just above the bed, which was great for light in the room during the day, but the window blind didn’t go all the way down, so you had some really bright sun in your eyes to wake up to. That was a bit frustrating when you wanted to sleep in a bit. We also noticed the ceiling fan didn’t work in the bedroom, so we couldn’t get that going. Other then those quick fixes, everything was lovely and a beautiful place to stay. We will be back. Thank you!
