Step over the threshold and into the bright and spacious hallway which offers plenty of hanging and storage space for your belongings. Head straight into the heart of the home, the kitchen, which is the perfect place for the designated chef to cook up a storm using all the modern appliances. Then retire to the cosy living area and end the day with a great film letting the gentle flames from the fire relax you. Choose one of three bedrooms to experience a truly relaxing sleep. Both The Bamburgh and Holy Island offer a super kingsize bed and kingsize bed respectively, generous hanging space and a wall-mounted TV. The third bedroom is The Seahouses, a really good-sized twin room with vaulted ceilings, skylights and a TV. The stylish family bathroom is a really relaxing room. The pretty enclosed garden to the rear has views over the park, comfortable garden furniture, a gas BBQ and a firepit, the perfect place to enjoy some al fresco dining. Cyclists and water sport enthusiasts can take advantage of the outdoor storage area.
Belford is a village well placed for exploring the area. With its own array of shops, pubs and a tea room, facilities are close at hand for the visitor, and golfers can practise at the driving range. Trout fishing in relaxed surroundings can be enjoyed at Chatton, about 7 miles away, which offers four lakes. Horse riding, cycling, and even hang gliding, can be found at Wooler, 9 miles. This small market town, known as the Gateway to the Cheviots, is popular with walkers, and the surrounding area offers outstanding scenery.
For serious walkers, the more rigorous St Cuthbert’s Way passes close by. Pretty villages are also in abundance, including Bamburgh, 5 miles, with its castle high on a rocky perch above the wide, golden sandy beach. A little further on you can hit he waves at Seahouses with as trip to the Farne islands. Stunning Alnwick Castle, 15 miles, is also worth a visit. As the backdrop of many films and TV programmes, this castle (together with its gardens and grand waterfall) draws many visitors who can also experience dining in the largest treehouse restaurant in Europe.
The A1 gives easy access to Berwick-on-Tweed, a border town with Elizabethan walls and one of the finest examples of an 18th-century Palladian house, Paxton House. The River Tweed, which runs through the town is known as one of the best rivers for salmon fishing. Within an hour’s drive of Puffin House are vibrant Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Edinburgh. Whether it is the north Northumbrian countryside to the west, the Heritage coastline (designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) to the east, or the Scottish Borders to the north, the choice is yours! beach 5 miles.
