About this property

Pier Style Home on the Hood Canal

This Hood Canal Property has been in our family for over 60 years. Our father grew up enjoying the warm water, shellfish, and sun bathing. As children ourselves, we spent many summers in this property enjoying the very same thing. This place is so magical we decided it is time we share with all of you. The North Shore of the Hood Canal hosts some of the warmest waters in the Pacific Northwest. Last summer when we were there the water temperature hit 80 Degrees! Whether you need some time away from the everyday rush or you're looking for an outdoor adventure, you will find what you are looking for at The Beach House on Hood Canal.

~ Kitchen ~
Updated kitchen providing basic housewares in order to cook your family/group that scrumptious meal. Dining ware for 8 people.

~ Bedrooms ~
Downstairs bedroom is suited for two people with a king bed.
The upstairs is broken into to two loft-like rooms-- think large, separated, open area without enclosing doors. One is furnished with a queen bed and full-sized futon. The last bedroom has one queen bed and is open loft style.

The upstairs loft looks into the living room and has panoramic views of the canal. Pictures do not do this view justice, however there is one trying to capture the beauty of the view in our picture selection.

~ Living Room ~
Our panoramic view leads to the deck and kitchen/dining as well. We have a 42" TV on top of our decorative fireplace for you to enjoy some television when the time comes.

~ Outdoors ~
We provide you with a grill and a seating area to lounge on the wrap around deck. Also, there's an outdoor shower to rinse the saltwater off. 3 kayaks are provided with life jackets— 4 adjustable adult sizes and 2 youth. Patio furniture is seasonal. Unfortunately at this time, no seafood collection/harvesting is allowed.

~ Beach ~
Our house sits on top of the water for parts of the day- literally, it's on stilts! You're welcome to do as you please on our rocky beach. We kindly ask that you refrain from lighting fireworks off and having beach fires near, or underneath, the house. unfortunately at this time, no seafood collection/harvesting is allowed.

~ Boating ~
Our house is a 10-minute drive from a boat ramp in either direction. Bring your boat and anchor in front of our place (be aware of the ever-changing tide) for easy access to water-skiing, fishing, and shrimping/crabbing. Kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards are also perfect for this water, year round.

~Accessibility~
For people with limited accessibility, our first floor is accessible to most. Our doors aren’t terribly wide for wheelchairs unfortunately. There’s one short step down from the parking pad to the deck and a short step into the home. Please reference pictures for examples. Our downstairs bathroom has a step in shower with built in shower bench. And the master bedroom is downstairs near the restroom.

Great Time!

We rented the house for a family reunion in the area. It was perfect place to relax. There were three of us and the downstairs bedroom was good for our older mother. The view from the deck was beautiful. The beach was filled with oysters and the swim dock was filled with seals in the morning. A real treat.

Beautiful solitude

We had such a great time here! Our kids kayaked and there were seals playing peek-a-boo with them. We watched the sun rise and set. The house is beautiful and such a peaceful place to relax after a busy day hiking. The ocean beach is about 2 hours but it's a beautiful drive. Olympic National Park is also close and also amazing. We found so much peace here just watching the water and seeing the stars come out. We definitely hope to be back!

Nice place for a getaway weekend

Nice and cozy property with nice views. Pretty cool that the tide comes in right under the house. The house was well organized and updated with thoughtful touches like shovels and buckets for clams, oyster shuckers, and kayaks. Water was pretty calm when we were there so it was very nice and relaxing taking the kayak out. There are a lot of oysters and clams here for you to enjoy. Check in and out was easy. The only thing I didn't like was the parking space is very tight and narrow barely enough for 2 cars, other than that this place was great. We will be back!

We enjoyed our stay very much.

We had the best time. We loved waking up and going to bed to the sound of the waves every day. Everything you needed was right there. The towels were great...so many!! That was a nice convenience. All the beds were AWESOME! So comfortable. The kids loved the loft area..and seeing the beautiful view. You had everything you needed in the kitchen. The Kayaks were a great bonus! This house is very peaceful and relaxing. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely be back again.

Comfortable, Newly Remodeled Beach House

We are a group of close friends who were lucky to find this property and be one of its first renters. We can see that it has been recently remodeled from top to the bottom. The house sits on a Bay Area, is very comfortable and has great layout/open concept. It is spacious and has awestruck water views from both downstairs and upstairs. Downstairs has an open concept with kitchen, dinning room and living room combined. The kitchen has new appliances and stocked with all new cooking utensils. It has one king bedroom next to one of the bathrooms . The upstairs is designed with a loft like style with 2 rooms separated by a half wall and shared the second bathroom. This is great for our group with young kids to be close and able to hear them. We were able to find all the needed amenities throughout our stays. The kids love the beach and came out to collect clams shells at low tide. We only had a short time to stay, so we mostly just stayed in to enjoy the house, the view and explored the beach. Sean, the owner is very fast in responding to our questions and very easy to work with. Thank you again! We are definitely already planning when to come back next!! Uyen

Fun spot on Hood Canal

My friends & I had a good time during our stay. The house is charming and the view is awesome. We swam, kayaked, played games and enjoyed the view. The house is right next to a road and while it’s not extremely busy, cars drive fast and the noise can be loud when trying to sleep. We’d love to come back!

Tranquil stay by the water

The house was the perfect blend of roomy with the right updates. Kitchen and bathrooms were fresh and the artificial decking was so great to walk barefoot on. The entire house looks out at the water, with many animal sightings to be had. A nice getaway from the daily grind. Note that it is right on the main road, and although not a lot of traffic, would not be idea for those wanting to bring kids/bikes. The kayaks and swimming dock were all the adventure we needed!

Fantastic place, high ceilings, on the water

Had a fantastic time at this property for my 30th birthday. We enjoyed the large deck built on stilts above the water, gas grill, the kayaks, the row boat, and loved the lighting through out the day provided by the high ceilings and windows. Perfect getaway not too far from the city. Would recommend this place to anyone!

Nice, but...

The house was nice and clean. The owner was responsive and communicated well. Check in was easy. Towels and sheets are well stocked and in good condition. There are two gas grills, one for shell fish an the other for meats. Oysters are plentiful on the beach right in front of the house. The view is wonderful. The down sides are, the two upstairs bedrooms are actually a loft. Listing says it will sleep 8 but that includes 2 on a futon. The mattresses are old and creek loudly when ever you move. The living room furniture is old and very uncomfortable IKEA style. As others have said, the house is only 8 to 10 feet off the road. Parking is in that narrow pull off. Parking for 3 is questionable. The speed limit is 50 MPH and passing cars can be heard all night. If not for my sound machine, I doubt I would have slept. The house does not have good ventilation, with no A/C so the upstairs loft got pretty hot even in late September.

Great small cute and beautiful place

We wanted to get some oysters and clams during this trip but not from the stores. This place was awesome and perfect for wild oysters and clams. We were able to get them from our backyard beach!!!! The scenery from house was picture perfect. Every morning when we wake up we all say "WOW ~ " and " AHHH ~". It wasn't something the words could describe. On top of it, communication with manager was great. The response to any of my questions were right away and not that I had any problem during my stay.

Nice Place

Nice place built over the water at high tide. Easily accommodated our party of 4 adults and 3 teens. Plenty of oysters but be aware that the state dept of fish & wildlife has closed the area for crabbing.

Fantastic Retreat on Hood Canal

I booked this property as my folks were flying in from Florida and wanted to be on/near the water on the west coast. It's easy to tell the owners have taken time to ensure this vacation property is outstanding. It offers a very well appointed kitchen, has plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the atmosphere, and an incredible deck over the canal that's perfect for taking in all the views. We seriously enjoyed harvesting clams and oysters at low tide and my boys had a blast getting out in the kayaks, swimming, catching small crabs, and exploring the beach. The owners have life vests for adults and kids, beach towels, buckets for oysters, and shovels to dig. Only thing you need to bring is rubber boots (and water shoes for kayaking), they have you covered with everything else One of the families a couple cabins down was there for a visit while we were there and their grand kids were along - it was perfect timing and my boys had a great time playing with those kids. We took advantage of a drizzle day and headed to Bremerton - highly suggest visiting the Insect/Reptile museum if you have kids - the boys loved it. The beds are very comfortable and my boys loved the open loft upstairs. Lots of fun games downstairs and plenty of quiet time enjoying coffee on the deck and inside if it was a bit cool outside. The only item folks need to be aware of is the house is on a busy street, wasn't an issue for us as the boys weren't allowed to walk on it without me. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I know my folks loved experiencing this aspect of PNW living. I hope to come back at some point down the road, hard to beat the fresh seafood with killer views and a very nice home to call base camp. The owners are quick to respond to any questions and it really is easy to tell that they've done everything they can to make this a phenomenal vacation rental.

Awesome view in almost every room!

This rental is a gem! Great location and view. The rental was well appointed, and offered more than we needed. There are extra bath and beach towels, BBQ grill, kayak/rowboat, life jackets, toys, tennis shoes, etc at our disposal. The kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room are well stocked. The only issue I had was the traffic noise since the house is literally 2-3 feet away from the road. However, you get used to it and also the amazing view made up for it. We enjoyed using Google Home and watching Netflix. Oysters are abundant to the point that we got tired of eating them. :) My kids loved fishing from the deck since the house is on the water. We will definitely return next summer!

Fantastic Waterfront Vacation Home

We stayed at this great place with grandparents for five days, and loved the house. The house was all stocked up and had all we needed, from condiments, oyster knifes, sea food recipes, games, ..... to extra toiletries. We took advantage of the sunny weather and went kayaking, swam to the dock, and picked oysters and clams. Or just relaxed and enjoyed the view of Hood Canal. We saw otters, bald eagles and osprey. We bought farm fresh eggs at JK's Treasure in Belfair, if you want to stop there. They are really good. The communication with the owner was easy. Definitely recommend!

About the host

Hosted by Sean Finucan

Host profile image
There are 5 owners which consists of 3 siblings and spouses. We are Pacific Northwest natives who grew up just 40 minutes from this house in Bremerton Washington. We love to play outdoors and be a regular family who works hard and plays harder. We have various professions in the group, including a doctor, real estate agent, Nike Golf operations, diagnostic imaging, and a photo shoot producer. We enjoyed this place so much we just had to share it.

Why they chose this property

This house was our grandparents and designed by our father. We just love the times we've spent out on the canal please take a look at some of those great times we have already had on our Instagram below!

What makes this property unique

-Sits on stilts in the water, when the tide is in you get to feel and embrace the water all around you. When the tide is out you get a lot of beach to play on.

-The water is uniquely WARM. This house sits towards the end of the hood canal where the water is clear and warm! In the summer months the water has been in the 80"s and is very commonly in the 70's. once you are done swimming you can enjoy a nice outdoor shower to rinse off. Many of the other homes on the water that are no in this area will not be this warm and probably be closer to the mid to high 50's. Most pacific northwest water including just a few miles up the hood canal is just for show and not for play because of the cold water!
