The “Kiwi House” property includes the main house “Os Ferrerinhos” and a second accommodation unit “O Lagar do Avô”, with independent use, which can accommodate a total of 14 guests in the two accommodations.
The main house was built in the 1930s and was more recently expanded and adapted for tourist accommodation, ensuring comfort conditions and sustainability principles in the management of energy, water and waste, but retaining several elements of authenticity of rural houses of the mid-twentieth century, namely furniture, windows, doors, floors and ceilings. The second building has a more modern construction but preserves in the living room an authentic wine press, which was used for decades by the family, and which today evokes the memory of the grandfather.
The property has been in the family for three generations and has been a family home and a regular meeting place for grandparents, children and grandchildren, especially at Christmas.
This property is in a rural environment that maintains traditional farming practices and has a wide view of the surrounding agricultural land and the mountains.
O Lagar do Avô is an independent accommodation unit with an area of 100 m2 and comprises a main bedroom on the ground floor with a double bed and a bedroom on the upper floor with three single beds, as well as a living room, two bathrooms, a kitchenette and a terrace overlooking the farmland and mountains.
This accommodation is equipped with air conditioning, a fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher and kitchenware, as well as bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi, TV with international and children's channels, and other amenities to provide a pleasant and relaxed stay.
LOCATION
The property is in a rural area surrounded by agricultural land, close to the center of the village of São Jorge, in the northern part of the island of Madeira.
A few kilometers away, there are impressive cliffs, mountains and Laurissilva forest for nature lovers and hikers, as well as other attractions.
At about 1500 meters, a recommended pedestrian path begins, “Levada do Rei”. At 400 meters there is a restaurant and tea house, but within a radius of 1500 meters it is possible to find other restaurants and cafes. At 950 meters there is a grocery store.
The property has easy access to the main roads.
REMARKS
A car is recommended to this location. The accommodation does not have parking, but it is possible to park on the side of the road next to the entrance.
As it is a rural area, there is potential for noise caused by dogs and other domestic animals in neighbouring properties. There are also insects in the surroundings that can be attracted by food scraps.
Cleaning is done before guests arrive and then a weekly maintenance cleaning is carried out, which includes changing bed linen and towels.
The increase in the number of guests implies a price increase of up to 10% per person.
CONDITIONS
1. Parties or behaviour that disturb the peace and well-being of neighbours are not allowed, especially between 10 pm and 8 am when neighbourhood noise is prohibited.
2. An online check-in form will be sent to collect essential identification data for check-in, arrival time and means of transport, which must be submitted by guests at least two days before arrival.
3. Self-check-in with flexible arrival time is available via a key lockbox whose code is created and sent on the day of arrival. For face-to-face check-in, it is necessary to schedule the time and the waiting time is 60 minutes, after which a new time can be scheduled according to our availability.
4. Guests may be required to present identification upon arrival and provide missing identification details to comply with legal requirements.
5. Guests must inform about allergies, conditions or special needs before or immediately after booking in order to verify compliance and appropriate measures to be taken.
