About this property

Lovely Cosy Stone Cottage in Tetbury, Cotswolds

The cottage is a recently refurfished Cotswold stone cottage, located in the historic town of Tetbury.

A beautiful space to relax with family or friends, the cottage is a short walk from the centre of town, with pubs and restuarants in walking distance. The location is also perfect if you're attending a wedding nearby, being on the road which leads out towards Kingscote Barn and Matara Centre, with the Great Tythe barn being the other side of town.

We love having children to stay and have books, games and Netflix inside for relaxing.

There are two bedrooms, the larger of the two has a big comfortable King size bed and the smaller bedroom is a cosy double which is comfortable for two.

There is a log burner in the lounge which you are very welcome to use (logs not provided, though please let me know if you would like these in the cottage for your arrival and I will do my best have them ready for your stay, there will be an additional charge for these), logs are also available to purchase at a number of locations locally.

The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and relaxing and has a dining table for 4.

The bathroom features a large roll top bath (with shower over) and is perfect for a relaxing soak.

There is a small lawn area to the front of the house and a large patio area to the side with a table for 4. It’s a real sun trap on a sunny day!

Please note that there are stone steps up to the property. These are not especially steep but would not be accessible with a wheelchair. Please contact me if you have any questions about accessibility and I will happily describe the space.

The cottage in Tetbury was neither lovely nor cosy. Filthy and neglected would be more appropriate. We arrives at 5pm. The front garden was overgrown and the paint was peeling off the window frames. Inside it immediately smelt and had obviously not been cleaned for some while. There were insect droppings on the window sills and food left open in the kitchen. Upstairs both beds had been slept in and the bedding was soiled and stained. In the bathroom the towels had been used, hairs were in the bath and the toilet had not even been flushed. It looked as if it had been inhabited for some time by irresponsible squatters. It was most upsetting. We phoned the owner who was polite, explained she must have been let down by her cleaners and offered us a full refund which she honoured. We have received the full amount. However, we were left at 6pm on a Friday evening in May in a small, picturesque Cotswold town with nowhere to stay. All the hotels were full and we could not find any B&Bs that had rooms. We drove to Swindon where we thought we would find room in a Premier Inn but that was also full. Eventually as it was getting dark there seemed no option but to drive home in the dark. We arrived in Surrey at 11.30pm. Our planned weekend was ruined. As the cottage looked so neglected we wondered when Travelnest last inspected in.
