Paul and his partner Cecile love this magical corner of France, its countryside, culture and traditions. Visiting the areas ancient villages, market towns, castles and chateau’s you’ll feel connected to the wonder of the area known for its agriculture and culinary gastronomy.

Paul is English and living his love for France with Cecile who is French and works part time as a vet. We are both passionate about the countryside and nature and look forward to hosting you at

La Balie is a perfect location to base your holiday, its great for extended families and group visits, perfect for sharing your holiday with mum and dad, brothers or sisters, children and friends.

La Balie provides flexibility for everyone and is a great location too for groups with such a diverse range of activities close by. Whether visiting an historic chateau or market town, or kayaking on one of the fantastic rivers the region boasts or cycling the fantastic network of lanes and tracks through the beautiful countryside.

The accommodation comprises three cottages that are close enough together to enjoy the gardens, terrace, pool, studio and communal dining area. Whilst each property enjoys its own discrete areas for dining and relaxing, so that every group can enjoy their time together with the option to find a quite corner.

La Balie is a relaxing and flexible property, set on a hillside in a beautiful setting with fabulous views. Whether its the suns rise in the morning, or its setting in the evening, you will feel the charm of the local colours as they reflect the changing light and frame your day.

Close to ancient villages that provide a fantastic back drop for buying local artisans produce that make this area famous for gourmet food and wine. You can enjoy in the summer months the local soirée gourmande in Salles, Gavaudan, Montagnac and Monflanquin, just take your own knives and forks and join the locals for seasonal food with wine or beer and often live music for a great evening.

Everyday there is a market not far away to buy your lunch or dinner, in one of the beautiful Bastide’s that make your visit a real joy, whether its local cheese, legumes, meat, pate, sea food or wines from the local producers or Bergerac and Cahor you will eat well.

Whether you cater for yourselves, visit one of the many fantastic restaurants or enlist a chef to cater for you and your party, the region is famed for its gourmet food that will leave you with lovely memories to share.

Visitors enjoy their dining into the late hours, sharing the warmth of the evening to candle light and making the most of their La Balie experience.

The property is situated close to the Gavaudan valley with its kilometres of small roads, paths and tracks, great for walking and cycling, or visiting the castle and Chateau at Biron and its exhibitions of art.
