About the host
Hosted by James Leeming
We are a private family (hence no photo!) that have owned Ledmore as a private holiday home for 30 years. My own children have mostly grown up and left now, but all have happy memories of childhood holidays and are determined to bring their own children (if and when they arrive!) In the meantime we are letting some weeks, so other children (and adults!) can have the same magical experiences. As one guest remarked 'Swallows and Amazons!'
Why they chose this property
We love it because there is no other house in sight, for the river and loch, and for the sheer number of things you can do without leaving the property. We often come here ourselves for a whole week and never feel the need to get in the car! We fish, canoe and sail on the loch nearly always with nobody else about (it may be Scotland's quietest loch!) We love the wild flowers, the variety of birds ( large and small) and the number of walking and cycling routes. Picnics by our own waterfall and along the small river are a particular treat.
If the sea is calm we use our sea boat to get to many different islands and deserted beaches, spotting as many whales and dolphins as we can. Visits to Staffa for Fingals cave and the Treshnish isles for the puffins and many other seas birds are favourites. We also fish for mackerel and collect mussels, scallops and cockles, cooking them on the spot or bringing them home for later feasts.

What makes this property unique
Having a large barn is ideal for any wet weather. Many a raucous game of cricket, football and tennis has been had, all adapted for the indoors.
The den is ideal for children to enjoy table tennis and to store their bicycles ready to sneak out on them to forage for wild strawberries, raspberries, brambles or mushrooms.
