We had an amazing time in Ortnevik. The cabin had a beautiful view and the town of Ortnevik is so charming. The cabin was rustic and cozy. The host was very friendly and responsive. Overall we had an amazing stay!
Could not have wished for more. Ortnevik is one jaw dropping view after another and the cabin is beautiful in the perfect location. We stayed 5 nights and walked the routes from the cabin each day and Eldar kindly shared use of his boat and fishing equipment. Can't wait to visit Norway again.
This cabin was very comfortable while giving our family an off the grid feel. An amazing view of the fjords and the night sky made us feel emerged in nature, while we stayed warm by the indoor fireplace. The full kitchen was great for cooking. Just remember to bring groceries, as you won’t want to leave this paradise to get supplies. Hiking trails around the cabin were awesome! Loved our stay!
Large comfortable cabin with a wonderful view of farmland and the fjord
We enjoyed the spacious cabin. It was warm and had a very functional kitchen and bathroom. It was great to eat looking out on the farm and beyond to the fjord and mountains. Good hiking opportunities from the cabin. Small village store had needed items. The ferry is right in the village, though a limited schedule to be aware of. Overall we had a great time during the stay.
Amazing location, comfortable cabin with beautiful view of fjord
What a beautiful valley on the fjord! The cabin has a fantastic view out over Ortnevik to the Sognefjord. It really is stunning. We went on a couple of short hikes around the valley and totally enjoyed them. The cabin itself is comfortable with all the facilities you will need. There is a small store in Ortnevik where you can get groceries but be aware that it has limited opening hours so check with the host. I should also mention that the host was very responsive to my queries, even though he was away at the time of our visit. His mother dropped in to make sure we were settling in, which was very nice. So, all in all, a wonderful stay!
This was our first stop on our three week trip to Norway and we could not have asked for a more perfect introduction. The Big Cabin was the most cozy and charming cabin we have ever seen! It was comfortable and well equipped. Our kids were especially in love with the sleeping loft and the unique stairs. The setting was magical and we filled our days hiking, cycling and fishing right from the cabin. Our host was wonderful and even helped supply us with some basic food staples as we arrived close to midnight on Saturday and the shop in town is closed on Sunday. We were not prepared, but Eldar took care of us!
We would love to return and hope to stay longer next time!
This is a lovely spot. The cabin is set into the side of a ridge with forest at the back. The front wall of windows and deck look out about a kilometer, over fields and the village, to the Sognefjord. During our stay with our teenaged granddaughter in early June, the wildflowers were everywhere, and the forest was a misty J.R.R. Tolkien landscape of thick moss, crags, rocks, crevices and rivulets. Great hiking out the door in every direction, and, even on a drizzly day, the anticipation of a cozy return. The heated floors are delightful. Much thought went into the cabin's layout, with touches including carvings, a gnarly stump supporting the kitchen counter, and stairs to the loft hewn out of a single log.Ortnevik is off the beaten path, at the end of a narrow road from Bjordal to the west. That is an appealing reason to visit this part of Hoyanger. But, the visitor should realize that ferries are more limited on the weekend, the small local store is often closed, and no nearby cafes. So, a good idea to pick up supplies on the way and double check the ferry schedule. Our time here was the highlight of our trip to Norway.
After 18 month world-wide pandemic, we needed a break. The Hoyanger nature and community did exactly that for us. The Brekke cabins are about 15-20min walk up the mountainside away from the Fjord. This height provides spectacular views over the Fjord and also into the neighboring valleys. The cabin is beautiful, cozy, equipped with everything you need - even books, games and a wide video selection for rainy days. We loved all the little details in the cabins, like faces and ornaments carved into the wood. The Brekke family is just so friendly and helpful and we felt very welcome. We stayed for 4 weeks and used the cabin as home base for a couple multi-day trips to the glacier for rafting or longer hikes in the national park behind the cabin. Between mushrooms, berries, hiking, swimming, Volleyball at the local beach we loved every minute of our stay - THANK YOU, BREKKE Family!!!
We loved the place. The cabin was well equipped and the kitchen worked. The area is so beautiful and the host is very friendly and kind.
We will definitely return again next year!
What a lovely place, beautiful surroundings with a perfect view over the fjord, natural and pure as I like to say . We felt so relaxed in Elders amazing Big log cabin which he built from the trees that grew where the cabin stands today. The area is remote, which we wanted, plenty of walks around the farm, some leading to waterfalls and Eldar fathers fantastic carvings, these are incredible, TRULY!
There is a hot tub which is a must.
Late at night you can relax looking out to the fjord and around 915pm watch the Cruise boat sail by, just adds to the beauty.
We loved our stay Xx xxx
Elder was contactable if required.
I am sure we would have had a little more conversation with Elder , but he had more important things to be occupied with, THE BIRTH OF HIS BABY SON ! Congratulations.

We had an amazing time staying in the big cabin. We have two children aged 5 and 7 who loved sleeping in the attic beds and exploring the are! The cabin was lovely and cosy with amazing balcony and open plan kitchen and living space to enjoy the stunning views. The website does not do it justice. If you are looking for accommodation for peacefulness, adventure ( Hiking ( kid friendly), rowing boats, den building, wood carving etc ) then this is the location for you. The hosts was very friendly and offered lots of advice on the local area. We will return for sure. Thank you for an amazing 3 nights.

Cosy cabin in beautiful nature
The big cabin has a stunning view to the mountains and fjords, surrounded by beautiful nature. Thanks to the glass front it doesn't matter which weather it is, it's always cosy instead - especially with the fire place. Although the cabin can fit easily 10 people, it is also really cosy for 2 people. The cabin, especially the kitchen, has everything you wish for. You don't even need a car, the ferry from Bergen takes you here - and the hikes around the area as well as the ferry ride to Vik is beautiful. We really enjoyed the time at this peaceful place - tusen takk

Traumhafter Jahreswechsel in Ortnevik!
