This gem of a property is perfect for a couple or small family who wish to relax in comfortable and stunning surroundings.

The owners have taken great care in the restoration and have achieved the perfect marriage between ancient and modern. Local materials such as limestone flagstones and wood beams have been used to great effect, and sit well with the smart kitchen and bathrooms.

The views from the covered dining terrace give a taste of the landscape around and you will find plenty to see and do should you wish to leave this picturesque spot. Calavorno, 3km downhill, is the nearest village for basic amenities and a local restaurant.

Head north to the interesting town of Barga (12km) which holds an opera festival during the summer, and beyond to the start of many walking and cycling trails leading through the Garfagnana region. Alternatively, visit Bagni di Lucca (10km), the spa town on the river, or venture to the walled Renaissance city of Lucca (35km), one of the best loved in Tuscany.

The double/twin bedroom can be prepared as either. Please advise at time of booking. Within the grounds of La Radura, just behind the cottage (about 10 paces), sits a charming Shepherd’s Hut (see images).  A recent addition, the owner envisaged it as a place to relax and for quiet contemplation.  The main space is furnished with a small double bed, chair, table and A/C.  Off the main area is an en suite shower room. It is available for use by guests for an extra charge of £175 per week.  Please note that maximum capacity at La Radura remains 4 people.
