A beautiful ground floor studio apartment in a surprisingly secluded but wonderfully central town centre location. A few minutes walk from both the train station and the town centre, it is a perfect location to access all the amenities of town and to explore the Peak District (a 10 minute drive). A snug, well furnished retreat with a large bathroom (shower & bath), fully equipped kitchen with bean-to-cup coffee machine. Strong wifi & secure, gated riverside terrace with table & chairs.
The homeliest of places, with unique décor, classical yet eclectic, this studio apartment in a converted historic mill is a cosy retreat hidden down by the river and yet within a stone’s throw of all the amenities of the town.
Secure, gated terrace, accessed with a coded gate.
All areas of the flat and terrace are accessible for those using a wheelchair.
There is a spacious living area, with comfortable sofa, chaise longue and additional chairs. A coffee table accompanies these in this sitting room space. A sense of ‘shabby chic’ may describe the place well (we are not a Travelodge, nor the Savoy !).
Within the main living space, there is an extendable George IV mahogany dining table, that will accommodate up to 6 people around.
The kitchen has all the required amenities: fridge, freezer, kettle and microwave, as well as cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. Additionally, a bean-to-cup coffee machine and washer-drier (the latter is available on request).
The main living space is divided from the bedroom with a large bookcase, filled with a library of books, alongside tasteful ornaments and plants.
The bedroom itself holds a double bed, with two bedside tables and wardrobe. There is space, with hangers, within the wardrobe. There is an up-to-date 50” television with FreeSat and internet access in the bedroom.
The bathroom is spacious with a vigorous shower, bath and heated towel rail.
There is a paved terrace overlooking the river, fringed with greenery and trees, with table and chairs outside the apartment. Beautiful sunshine to be had sitting out when the weather is fine!
Access:
The flat is accessed through a private, locked gate. This is opened with a code. The flat is the first one to be accessed after gaining entry through the outer gate.
Guest support:
Guests are left solely to their own selves unless otherwise wanted. I am only a short trip up the road, so I can help with anything if necessary.

An iron and ironing board are in the property.
There is a travel cot in the apartment.
There are additional duvet, pillows and blankets.
Please let me know if you need anything specific and I will endeavour to provide this.
Pets are welcome but please request first.
Neighbourhood:
The flat is two minutes walk from both the train station and the bus station. The town centre is only a small distance further up the road. In the vicinity are a wide variety of bars and restaurants of all types, as well as take aways. I am happy to provide any information you need or recommendations.
Getting around:
The train station provides a 20-30 minute direct link to Manchester City centre and a 1 hr 45 minute to London Euston direct.
There is on the street parking in two hour bays immediately outside the flat and adjacent streets, which means you could leave the car there from 4pm until 10am the next morning on a normal day or We all day on a Sunday. However if you want to leave the car longer, there are relatively cheap car parks (either Pickford street or Sunderland Street car park) about a minute’s walk away - across the road. If you wanted free and unrestricted parking, you could park up on Brook Street. That is 3 or 4 minutes walk away approx.
Pets:
Pets are usually welcome but please contact me when booking if you are bringing a pet so that I can confirm your pet is suitable for the property. Many thanks.
