We can't guarantee you'll find a morris dancer in your bath at our tranquil and unique getaway, but there are plenty of other quirky features to make your stay in the Luminaire an out-of-this-world experience.
Our starry ceiling bathroom comes alive with tiny pin pricks of light under the smiling gaze of the blue moon stained glass window and our comfortable chaise lounge makes a cosy corner to browse our collection of esoteric books .
Situated in the heart of the National Forest our loft studio is an ideal base for exploring the areas many small towns and villages, by foot, bike or car.
Our information pack has details of some lovely sites to visit within a radius of less than four miles:
Calk Abbey - the ‘House that time forgot,’

Moira Furnace - a fully restored blast furnace and museum offering boat rides on the Ashby canal and lovely walks around the adjoining parkland.
1620s House Donington Le Heath - a lovingly restored medieval manor house and gardens which was once home to the Digby family who were implicated in the gunpowder plot.

About the host

Hosted by Sue Kendrick

Host profile image
We are Brian & Sue Kendrick who have lived and worked in the National Forest all our lives. We know the area very well having cycled and walked its many footpaths and explored the little known areas that make up the area.
We run a small farm which lies a few yards up the road from the accommodation where we keep a herd of British White cattle which you may see in some of the adjoining fields.

Why they chose this property

The Luminaire is ideal for a short break to explore this part of the National Forest. It lies almost adjacent to a nature reserve which in turn backs onto miles of woodland all of which can be explored on foot or bicycle.
We are just a few miles from several popular historic sites including Calk Abby, (the house that time forgot), Grace Dieu Priory and Staunton Harold, the scene of the infamous Ferrars murder.

What makes this property unique

You will love soaking in the deep bath under the starry ceiling!
