Fantastic Villa, which belonged to the Milanese aristocracy, also hosted Prince Raimondo Lanza of Trabia during his summer holidays. Very suggestive, with gardens on several levels, from where you can admire a unique panorama in front of the Vezio Castle. The rooms are equipped with all services and accessories, a private bathroom for exclusive use, coffee machine, minibar and the possibility of using the large terrace where you can sip an aperitif and enjoy the spectacular view of Lake Lecco and Como. The terrace is equipped with an umbrella and sunbed where you can relax and sunbathe, a living room, a reading room, various gardens and a parking space for exclusive use. The Villa dominates the center of the town and all services are within walking distance, bars, restaurants, supermarket, pizzeria and various paths for trekking in the adjacent woods. A short distance from the beaches and the small port where you can embark to visit Lake Lecco and Como. Sports center with football and tennis field 350 meters away. The area is purely tourist and the train station is 2.5 km away. from our residence, reachable on foot via the mule tracks, which greatly shorten the route, or by bus or taxi service, both 150 meters from the Villa. You can also attend falconry shows in the nearby castle of Vezio, which belonged to Queen Teodolinda, or water sports such as water skiing. sailing, canoeing and fishing.

Wonderful stay!

We had a very nice stay in Varenna. Our host, Claudia, went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable! Prior to our arrival, we were in communication with her regarding how to get from the train station up to the villa. She greeted us at the villa after taking the free taxi bus and took us on a tour. She continuously checked in with us, sent us links for her recommendations, and links for taxis/boats. The villa was incredibly clean, homey, and had a beautiful view! The only unexpected thing we experienced was a delay in getting a taxi on our final day. I recommend reserving a taxi ahead of time as this villa is about 10 minutes up from town. Claudia was very helpful in helping us figure out this last minute complication.Overall, great stay and we would love to travel here again!

Luigi was very helpful in settling us in. The room and bathroom are very basic…nothing fancy. There is no mirror in the bedroom to help to get ready. There is no counter space in the bathroom either. However it was clean.

Best for young travelers

The host was not especially helpful in directing us from the train station to the Villa. We were told to take the bus and look for a certain restaurant (can't remember the name). It's not a regular stop for the bus driver, but he did let us off. There are ninety-eight steps from the street to the front door. That's like climbing six floors. The person on staff let us in the gate but didn't help us with our bags. We really struggled. My husband and I are in our 70s. I should have researched this better. The pictures show a beautiful villa with a beautiful view of Lake Como. And actually, the grounds are beautiful and it does have an incredible view of the water from the second floor deck. But when I booked this I didn't expect so much climbing would be required. This place is perfect for students with a sense of adventure who need an affordable place to stay. It's not at all luxurious, but it's clean. And honestly, the view is worth the climb.
