About this property
Quarry Lodge, Lydney - sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms
Reaching the end of your journey, you will find yourself awestruck by the surroundings of Quarry Lodge. To each side of the track there are miles of trees and hilltops beyond. Nestled on the edge of the treeline near a lake, you first notice the silence of your setting before you enter your holiday home.
Inside, the meandering ground floor creates separated living spaces with plenty of space for your whole group in each. From the entrance the house flows into the kitchen and dining area, perfectly positioned for enjoying the view. The spacious living room branches off from the central hallway and has high ceilings, a wood burner, and a large comfortable corner sofa which you can't resist sinking into and taking a deep breath as you relax. All you can see from here is trees making it feel as though you are in another world. There are three bedrooms including one on the ground floor which can be a king-size double or a twin room, which helps to provide sleeping arrangements to suit everybody. Upstairs you really feel as though you are in a treehouse in the bedrooms and the modern family bathroom has a bathtub and rainfall shower.
Stepping out to the fully enclosed garden you’ll enjoy the freshness of the country air. To the side of the parking area is a separate utility with WC, keeping the noise of the washing machine from disturbing your evenings. Alongside the lawn and gravelled area is a secluded patio where you’ll find the hot tub* where you can relax in the bubbles looking out to the lake feeling invisible to the rest of the world. You will also find a games room with a pool table and table tennis, an amazing addition to your holiday here. Walks lead from the door and there are many outdoor activities on offer in the Forest of Dean and Symonds Yat nearby.
Ground Floor
Kitchen/Dining Room:
The spacious kitchen/diner includes an entrance hall to the side where you first step into Quarry Lodge. This light and airy space with fresh white walls and wooden floors has patio doors out to the garden overlooking the trees and lake beyond. With a dining table seating six and a well-equipped kitchen which has the best views to enjoy while you do the washing up, this is a wonderful space for preparing meals after a country walk.
Living Room:
Passing a side entrance and down one step, the living room is at the back of the house. Decorated in natural tones it brings the colours of the outdoors in. A wood burner in a painted grey surround is the main feature of this room creating a warming atmosphere for evenings in. You can really get away from it all and there is space for everybody to stretch out on the corner sofa and armchairs.
Bedroom One:
This ground-floor super king-size double enjoys the peace at the end of the cottage. It can be split to be two single beds on request. Furnished with a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables you have enough space to pack your belongings away and feel at home. There is also a feature pink armchair where you can enjoy the view while flicking through a magazine.
First Floor
From the eye-catching turquoise hallway, stairs take you up to the family bathroom and two more bedrooms.
Bedroom Two:
The first king-size double to the right of the stairs is the smallest of the rooms but this doesn't take away from its luxurious qualities. The soft bedding will ease you to sleep, and there is a wardrobe and bedside tables for storage.
Family Bathroom:
The large family bathroom has a modern touch with geometric floor tiles and white walls. A rainfall shower and separate bath, WC and sink ensure you have everything you need.
Bedroom Three:
The final king-size double features a decorative fireplace in the same colours as the living room fire. Well-furnished with a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables this spacious room is a lovely spot to relax at the end of the day.
Outside
The enclosed garden is a safe space for children and dogs and a side gate takes you out into the wilderness of the forest with walking routes around the lake. To one side is a secluded patio where you will find the hot tub* where you can take a dip and feel at one with nature.
External Games Room:
An outhouse by the parking area acts as a games room and utility. There is a pool table and table tennis so there's plenty to keep you entertained even on rainy days. There is also a washing machine, tumble dryer and WC here.
