Hedgehogs View – Luxury Underground Escape in the Heart of Mid Wales

If you are looking for a luxury yet one of a kind stay than Hedgehogs View is the place for you, nestled in the heart of rural Mid Wales with idyllic panoramic views to match- a few days away here really is a little piece of heaven.

Located near the bustling market town of Rhayader & a stones throw away from the ever popular Elan Valley, this Underground House is situated on a site of further luxury stays including Glamping Pods & Shepherds Huts yet still remains private for that relaxing getaway you have been promising yourself. Sleeping up to six guests over three ground floor bedrooms, Hedgehogs View can suitably accommodate a romantic getaway for two or equally welcome a family holiday or get together with friends.

Follow the charming path to the property entrance and greet yourself inside to the open plan area which really maximises the space on offer and ensures you don't miss out on a thing when holidaying with friends and family. The living area boasts a plush burnt orange sofa and from here you can either chill out with your feet up and catch up on your favourite series on the smart television or admire the one of kind emerald green kitchen. The kitchen area comes fully equipped with oven, hob and fridge with ice compartment, and microwave. Whether you have cooked up a storm or ordered in a takeaway there is space for six people around the dining table with the most comfy of dining chairs so that all guests can dine & raise a glass together.

With two plush king size rooms, the spacious master bedroom accommodates a unique (& Instagram worthy) free standing bathtub run over looking the view of the green fields and hills rolling into the the distance. On the warmer days open up the French doors to allow that fresh air to fill the room while you relax with that favourite glass of bubbly in hand. The second king room has French doors leading out onto the paved area outside & the additional bedroom is a bunk room hosting two single beds. The family bathroom comes complete with free standing sink basin with illuminated mirror, large shower & flushing WC.

If all this sounds fabulous, wait until you hear about the outside.. Hedgehogs View has its very own private hot tub on the spacious paved area, so you can sit back and relax in the bubbles an admire the stunning view of the valley below. If you enjoy alfresco dining, there is an outdoor seating area with fire pit, perfect for toasting marshmallows under the glorious evening sky.

This property is truly is a 'hidden' gem. Quirky, cosy and created just for you with all the unique features it has to offer.

Up to two dogs welcome but must be kept off the furniture and on a lead when outside.

We had a lovely stay here and it was a very nice and different place to stay

Highly recommend this place for a different kind of stay. The views were absolutely stunning although we went in January the place was warm dry clean tidy and the customer services were outstanding.

Fantastic for a girl's weekend!

Myself, 4 girlfriends and 2 dogs very much enjoyed our stay at quirky hedgehog view. The outlook from the property onto the Welsh hills was gorgeous, and the hot tub was lovely. There are curious goats on the surrounding fields that visited us. The baby goats were very sweet! Thank you to Gemma for hosting us at Hedgehog view. She was on hand with a contact number for an emergency vet, when on of our dogs had eaten something he shouldn't have!

Weekend Break

Location and accommodation were fantastic. Hot tub under the stars in the snow was the icing on the cake for a birthday weekend. Just needed a few more kitchen utensils and glassware, my son wanted a pint glass to drink his Guinness

Great accommodation and great view.

A wonderful way to experience the scenery. You are really in amongst it. Great to wake up and see the hills and the Kites circling in the sky. On our second day we had goats eating the grass outside our window which was a lovely surprise. Great accommodation and wonderfully quirky. The owner was very helpful too. Would highly recommend.

Nice but could be better.

Water was only warm not hot so beautiful bath tub couldn't be used. Wifi wasnt working the first day and a half The qr code to scan for info didnt work and came up with an error. Hot tub chemicals way to strong and ruined partners bikini. Location was amazing and property was very clean.

Had a great time but has some room for improvement

We had a fantastic stay and really enjoyed the little goats that came to the door — it was lovely to sit and watch them. We also enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub while watching the red kite birds flying over the fields, which was a real highlight. That said, we feel there is some room for improvement. It would be helpful to have basic cleaning equipment such as a small mop. We also noticed black mould on the wall and curtains in the main bedroom and in the bedroom with the bunk beds. Overall, we did really enjoy our stay and are considering booking again in the future.

Hesgehog House is set in a beautiful location with truly splendid views, making it a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The site itself has no amenities, but having your own private hot tub was a real highlight and added to the experience. Unfortunately, cleanliness was an issue on arrival: we found cobwebs stretching from the ceiling to the top bunk in the smallest bedroom, and single-use plastic drink wrappers pushed down between the mattress and bed frame in the second double room. The closest town, Rhayader, is nearby and offers plenty of friendly pubs for food and drinks. The local community is welcoming, and there are lots of nature walks in the area, which was great for the dogs.

Fantastic stay

Hedgehog View was the perfect place for our girls weekend, the views are fantastic, as was the hot tub and we enjoyed a brief visit from the goats! The house is cozy and well equipped and the location was perfect for walks such as Elan Valley and Hafren Forest. Would 100% recommend!

Beautiful place

The accommodation is beautiful and quirky, lovely views from the round windows, the only thing that let it down for us was the bed, it was awful, so uncomfortable it needs a deeper mattress so you aren't bruising all the back of your legs on the wooden frame around it trying to get on and off and the wood underneath makes it feel like you are sleeping on concrete! The place is very very warm so if you are a cold person you will love it, but they do provide fans, nice to sit in the hot tub looking at the stars, and it is nice and private well thought out and not too close to the neighbours

What a GEM

What an absolute GEM. Booked for 2 nights as a birthday treat, it exceeded expectations. Everything was as described, the location stunning, everything you wanted was there. Wonderful even with bad weather!

Beautiful location in the countryside, but close to all the amenities by car. Peaceful and cosy, it was so rainy and windy most of the weekend but we still had a lovely time and would visit again! The beds were comfy and the hot tub was lovely and warm.

Gorgeous place to stay, was a last minute booking on way home but so glad we picked it. Views are stunning and accomodation was too. Definitely would like to come back.Although have to say it is a little pricey, especially for a longer stay.

Charming Hokiday

Six of us stayed at Hedgehog View. We had a brilliant time. It is an absolutely charming holiday venue. It is cosy especially when the weather turned windy and rainy. We also had some little goat visitors. My only complaint would be the window coverage. The curtains don’t cover the windows fully and we would’ve preferred complete privacy. Other than that I would highly recommend

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay at hedgehogs view. Great location, Great surroundings. Only slight disappointment was we didn't realise there was a Motocross event on over the next field. Didn't bother us to much. The wild goats were great my daughter loved them. Would definitely stay here again. Weather depending.

48hrs at Hedgehog’s View

Such a beautiful place, we only had two nights here but the accommodation was gorgeous and stylish. The views were amazing and being able to enjoy them from the hot tub or the outdoor seating area with a fire made it even better. The hairy cows and evening visit from the goats were the added factor! We needed a break and hedgehog’s view certainly delivered.

Lovely stay

We really loved our stay and highly recommend it. Views are stunning. The house is stunning. A couple of things to note, the fridge is very small if you’re planning on self catering and there is very little space to put your clothes etc. some additional hooks throughout would be super helpful. We were really gutted that the goats weren’t out during our stay. They were there when we arrived and we didn’t see them again for the remainder and they were one of the biggest draws of booking. Apart from that it really is an amazing place and also highly recommend going on a pony treck with Alice at Lion Royal trekking.

2 day girl break

Hedgehogs view is perfect for a girl or romantic getaway. The location is stunning. Not much to do in the area, however sitting in the hottub and admiring the view is enough. The facilities are excellent, everything is easily accessible, and the accomodation itself is very private. Would highly recommend and deffo will be returning.

Lovely weekend break

We stayed at Hedgehogs View for a weekend family birthday celebration. The accommodation was warm, comfortable and well equipped, with beautiful views on a clear day. The hot tub was lovely and warm, and was well used despite the chilly weather. We very much enjoyed our visit.
