About this property

Terracotta Tableau, by Veeve

Like any good sculpture, this duplex attic home showcases a mastery of shape and texture. Blending modernist lines and light-focusing architecture with the old-time charm of knotted beams and artistic eclecticism, the overall effect is part sleek sculptor's studio, part bright bohemian hideaway. And speaking of bohemian, you'll be steeped in culture in this neighbourhood, with some of Paris's finest creative havens on your doorstep — including the village-esque Batignolles, with its hip bars and vintage shopping; and the supreme Montmartre, with its historic cobbled streets brimming with cafes and galleries.

GROUND FLOOR

LIVING ROOM
It's tough to know what to rave about most here, but for us it's probably the skilful melding of old and new. The room is framed by vintage roof beams and swathes of glass, with a well-poised skylight that lets shafts of sunshine fall across the space, setting those fresh interiors aglow. A neutral palette is lifted by a few dazzling contrasts, including that vermilion sofa and fiery painting. Rows of books and a generous helping of art and sculpture give you a taste of that bohemian spirit before you've even wandered over to neighbouring Montmartre, and that molten clay slab of a coffee table will elevate any lazy morning at home to French salon levels.

KITCHEN
A vision in terracotta tones, the kitchen is strikingly designed with slick, slate surfaces and an impressive vintage-style stove. There's plenty of space to cook and entertain in here, with a generously-sized table and breakfast bar.

STUDY & BEDROOM
Divided from the living area by a glass panelled wall that combines with balcony windows to maximise space and light, this delightful bedroom includes a comfy desk spot, a Queen-sized bed, and maybe our favourite feature of any study — towering bookshelves, complete with library ladder.

BATHROOM
Pretty in pink with a walk-in waterfall shower and single wash basin.

LOWER GROUND FLOOR

PRINCIPAL BEDROOM
Ablaze with colour from its mustard yellow walls to those ruby red accents, there's a cheerful vibrancy to this room that makes getting up in the morning that little bit easier. Offering a comfy Queen-sized bed and picturesque street views, we love the smattering of art pieces that weave a little bohemian charm in here too.

We love...
Although fairly minimalist when it comes to furniture, the real charm of this home is its carefully curated collection of art, from stylish watercolours, to rich oil paintings and eye-catching sculpture. If you've come to Paris hoping to dip a toe into its creative waters, you couldn't ask for a more inspiring start.

Home Truths:
No smoking, pets or parties! This apartment is on the 5th floor with no lift and fairly steep stairs down to the lower floor. It's a duplex apartment set over two floors, with the principal bedroom on the lower ground floor. The study bedroom can either be set up as one Queen-sized double or two singles.

Why they chose this property

Situated next to the Arc de Triomphe, the 17th arrondissement is slightly off the beaten track. However, if you’d like to see some of the finest architecture in Paris, then look no further. This arrondissement, without any major sites, is a story of two tales; to north-eastern end of the 17th, more commonly known as Batignolles, you’ll find a relaxed bohemian atmosphere with a large variety of bars and eateries. In contrast, the south-western side of the 17th feels like an extension of the Champs Élysées with a large selection of midrange to high-end shops. This beautiful arrondissement is home to one of Paris’s best kept secrets like Parc Monceau, an unusually casual and relaxing park in the heart of Paris.
