Guest access
Guests will have the Lodge with rear garden to themselves and many local walks nearby.
Other things to note
The hosts live close by and operate a working farm producing wild flower seeds.
Guests are more than welcome to walk around the field where they produce the seeds. The entrance is through the gate opposite the drive. Please keep to the grass track around the perimeter or the grass track down the middle of the field.
There are 50 different species grown here attracting a wide range of bee species including bees from our own apiary, also with a wide range of butterflies and for those interested, photo opportunities abound.
The pond in the middle of the field was dug out from a wet patch a few years ago and is home to Frogs, Newts including Great Crested Newts, Dragonflies and a range of insects attracting Bats in the evening. The wire tube in the middle of the pond is a nesting site for ducks, safe from predators, it often produces 2 or 3 clutches of ducklings per year.
There are various tree and shrub species including Wild Service, Birch, Wild Cherry and Spindle planted as windbreaks, to enhance the landscape, or specifically for seed production. There is probably sufficient tree seeds harvested to produce 1 million trees per year, a useful contribution towards the demand for planting more trees in the UK.
