About this property
Elegant Provençal Estate in the Sunny South of France - Domaine des Charmettes
'Maison Lavande' is simply and comfortably decorated with classical and Provencal furnishings. From the kitchen and living room there is a exceptional view of the “Mont Ventoux” and the East vineyard. A private terrace and outside covered sitting area “the pigeonnier” are surrounded by a Mediterranean herb and flower garden with flowering laurel bushes, thyme, rosemary and lavender. On the terrace there are a chairs for relaxing, an outdoor dining table and gas barbecue, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the Provencal landscape with a glass of wine. In the “pool area”, there is a very large floodlit swimming pool with a sliding semi-telescopic removable cover, sun beds and a covered sitting area. At poolside there are fig trees for shade. The covered sitting area is a perfect place to sit back with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and just relax. The enclosed pool area is the only place where dogs are not allowed. The pool area is possibly shared with the other vacation rental on the Domaine. Laudun has a Provencal market on Sunday mornings as well cafés, bakeries, and shops.

About the host
Hosted by Laura Hicks d'Esperonnat
We, Thierry and Laura d'Esperonnat, a Franco-American couple are your hosts. We bought the Domaine in 2001 and have been renovating and improving it since. We moved to Laudun in order to share our passion for grape growing, wine making and tasting plus the Sunny South of France.
Why they chose this property
We chose this area for many reasons. The first two that come to mind are the weather and our passion for winemaking and of course wine tasting. Other great reasons are the people, the Provençal markets, local food, the restaurants and all the different things to do and sites to see close by. An elegant 19th century vineyard made up of 3 houses and numerous outbuildings surrounded by 1 hectare of vines and 1 hectare of gardens and woods. We make our own red and rosé wine. Situated in a quiet area at the edge of the village of Laudun, the Domaine is a wonderful vacation spot, on the Western edge of Provence. Laudun is just south of Bagnols sur ceze in the northern part of the Languedoc Roussillon region. The village is well known for gallo-roman ruins and famous for its “Côtes du Rhône Village wines.
What makes this property unique
Ideal place for couples and families who want to enjoy the 'sunny life' of Provence and Southern France. The 'Domaine' is extremely well situated for day trips in and around the region. Laudun is centrally located for trips to Chateauneauf du Pape, Avignon, Pont du Gard, Nimes, Uzès, the Ceze Valley, and the 'Gorges de l'Ardeche'. The Mediterranean and its wonderful beaches are just over an hour's drive. For us the Domaine des Charmettes is a haven of tranquility in a Provencal setting of grape vines, Olive, Cypress and Pine trees that takes you back in time. Having a glass of wine or the typical Provençal "apero" around the pool or on your terrace is perfect after visiting the local markets or Roman ruins.
