About this property

Kauhale Makai 434 | Incredible Pacific Views!

Wake up to the sight of the Pacific Ocean sparkling in the sunshine. Fall asleep to the lull of waves rushing onto the white-sand and coral Waipu’ilani Beach. And in between make memories that will last a lifetime. That’s what awaits you at Kauhale Makai 434, an idyllic two-bedroom, two-bath condo.

Located on the fourth floor of an elevator building, Kauhale Makai 434 looks out onto the ocean, the beach, and the palm trees of the complex’s impeccably manicured grounds. Stroll around to the other side of the property, and you can gaze at the West Maui Mountains. Kauhale Makai offers much more in addition to the spectacular views. There are pools for adults and kids, as well as a hot tub. When you’re not swimming or soaking, you can laze on a poolside chaise and revel in the fragrance of the frangipani (and because Kauhale Makai is a smoke-free property, you’ll really be able to delight in the scent!). For some light exercise, head to the shuffleboard courts or the putting green, perfect for warming up before you hit one of the nearby golf courses. If you really want to pamper yourself after a day on the go, take advantage of the indoor sauna, then cook and dine alfresco at the barbecue area: It’s outfitted with four grills, tables, and tiki torches.

You can also enjoy snacks and drinks alfresco on Kauhale Makai 434’s private balcony, which is furnished with a table and chairs. On the other side of the sliding glass doors that connect the balcony to the living/dining area is a larger dining table that seats four. Even when you’re indoors, you’ll feel as if you’re outside! At least once during your stay try to time dinner to coincide with the sunset over the ocean—it’s a sight not to be missed.

Kauhale Makai 434 has a breakfast bar as well, which doubles as additional kitchen counter space. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, gadgets, cookware, and tableware. Even if you eat your main meals out at the numerous nearby restaurants, you’ll appreciate having a refrigerator to keep juice and wine cold and a blender for mixing smoothies in the morning and margaritas at night.

Kauhale Makai 434’s living area includes plenty of well-cushioned seating so that everyone can kick back and watch a movie on the large HDTV with digital cable service. The unit has free WiFi too, so you can post photos of your adventures; your friends back home will be so jealous.

They’ll also be jealous of the views from Kauhale Makai 434’s two bedrooms. The primary suite, like the living/dining area, opens onto the balcony; after the kids are in bed, you and your sweetheart can enjoy a romantic moonlit drink among the salt-kissed breezes before slipping into your king-size bed. The primary suite also includes a TV, plenty of storage, and a private bathroom. With two twin beds, the second bedroom is ideal for the kids. There’s the second bathroom as well. Having a full bathroom for each bedroom will make mornings hassle-free.

Kauhale Makai borders Waipu’ilani Park, which encompasses Waipu’ilani Beach as well as tennis, shuffleboard, and volleyball courts. You can walk from your condo to the beach in just a few minutes. Canoe and kayak in the morning, windsurf and paddleboard in the afternoon, search for shells in the sand and whales in the water any time of day.

Kauhale Makai 434 is also within walking distance of the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary. Close by are restaurants, shops, and harbors where you can board a variety of charters for everything from fishing to snorkeling. Then again, you could easily spend your entire stay on the complex’s grounds and at the beach without ever running out of things to do.

So what are you waiting for? Book your stay at Kauhale Makai 434, and get ready for your best vacation ever.

*The Kauhale Makai property will have intermittent noise due to scheduled maintenance construction until September 2019. At various times, the lanai will be inaccessible.

Amazing beach vacation
We enjoyed our week long stay at the property. Great views and convienet access to many restaurants and things to do on Maui. We had to adjust to the heavy subs every afternoon, but the mornings were always great. Good beach for walking out swimming, but not so much for waves or snorkeling.

Beautiful Sunsets!
The Kauhale Makai 434 best feature is a fantastic, unimpeded view of the ocean, Maalaea Bay and Puʻu Kukui so the sunsets from the balcony are hard to beat. The complex is centrally located and it doesn't take long to get most places on the island by car. Now getting to the restaurants and shopping in Kihei will still take a car, as nothing is close enough for walking. If you've got independent teens like us, you'll tire of them asking you to take them places. Staying closer to the Kamaole beaches might be a better fit. Also the beach itself is pretty rocky with only a small strip of sand out in the ocean where you can walk without water shoes. Don't expect a sugar sand beach. On the plus side, they've got a small but nice pool, kids pool and hot tub. The unit was fairly well outfitted. They had many beach towels, a nice umbrella and several beach chairs. The kitchen had some fairly new pans, glasses and a decent amount of silverware and knives. There was quite the collection of spices so don't bother buying until you inspect what is already there. The kitchen needs some things though - a new large frying pan some addt'l plates or cereal bowls , and some BBQ gear (tongs, spatula). Speaking of BBQ, the complex was in the process of replacing the grills with nice, new KitchenAid units. I'm guessing the mattresses have been replaced as we had no complaints in that department. Where they could invest in the furniture is updating the patio furniture which consists of a rusting iron bistro set and a few cheap aluminum pool chairs with plastic backing/seats. How about something nicer and more comfortable to really enjoy those million dollar sunsets!?

Fantastic View!!!
The Kihei location and ocean view from this property make it a special find. Watching the waves from your own lanai each day was fantastic and added to the "hawaii" experience. The condo building is quiet with great parking. Many awesome restaurants and shopping near by. Very convenient! I would stay here again for sure. That said, the beds really do need attention. They are very uncomfortable. Adding a foam topper to all beds would make a HUGE difference with minimal cost. I bought a 3 inch foam topper for the twin bed for my daughter and it saved the day. Without it, she was planning to hit the couch. I left the topper there for the next guest. The toaster is also shot and needs replaced. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time on vacation. Thank you for having us! That view is worth a million bucks!
