About this property

Secluded Cottage & Garden nr Sherborne

Summary:
Nestled away on a quiet lane in rural Dorset, this is a warm and welcoming home for eight. Formerly two 19th Century former farm buildings, now it stands as one having been knocked together to make a spacious home. Enjoy sunny days out in the garden or take long rambles across the hills. Step through the front door and find a charming space with lots of character - from big country-style rooms to endless scenic views and ample natural light. Plus, there’s a private drive with space for two vehicles.

The Space:
This spacious country house is set in the peaceful, rural hamlet of Stowell on the North Dorset/Somerset border. Pull on your walking boots and head off on long walks straight from the door - there’s plenty to choose from in the surrounding area. And much like its location, there’s a peaceful presence to this home that makes you want to settle in and stay.

Inside, there’s ample space for eight guests: from the expansive open-plan kitchen and dining room to the handy laundry room, snug sitting room and larger living room. There’s everything you need to rustle up delicious meals - a 6-ring range cooker, microwave, dishwasher and ample utensils. Then gather around the dining table to feast into the night! Next door, a spacious living room is the perfect spot to settle into a movie night. Or if you’re feeling competitive, borrow one of the numerous board games.

Upstairs, four well sized bedrooms sleep eight guests in total. Each has its own distinctive feel; the king-size master boasts large French doors that lead out onto a private balcony as well as an en-suite bathroom. Enjoy morning cups of tea from the comfort of your bed and look out onto the pretty garden with rolling hills in the distance. In addition to the master, there is an additional double bedroom as well as two twins and an additional bathroom with shower.

Friends and families will love this home - it’s the perfect setting for a restorative retreat as well as a countryside adventure. Explore nearby Sherbourne, the stylish Bruton (where you’ll find the iconic Hauser and Wirth) or the idyllic Cranborne AONB.

Guest Access:
Guests have access to the whole house and garden.

The Neighborhood:
Woodside Cottage is the perfect place to embrace quintessential countryside charm. You’re located in the rural hamlet of Stowell on the North Dorset/Somerset border so there are ample walks to enjoy straight from the door.

This charming, honey-coloured town is brimming with history and heritage and has plenty to offer. Wander around the spectacular Abbey or Old Castle - the grounds are beautiful. Then head to the high street to enjoy a spot of shopping. There are lots of independent boutiques, art galleries, delis and antique stores. Every Thursday and Saturday, the town comes alive with market stalls. Find the very best of local artisans, crafts and food producers with over 170 stalls and free music and entertainment in Pageant Gardens.

Within half an hour, you can enjoy many more of Dorset’s picturesque towns. Shaftesbury, with its famous Golden Hill or Blandford Forum.
