About this property

Rare Riverside Retreat

Space
The >1250 sq ft apartment opens on to a small garden, and overlooks a wide sweep of the Willamette river, with an abundance of wildlife-viewing and fishing opportunities.

Guest access
Guests have access to kayaks (with life jackets), an outdoor BBQ, and direct river access through the adjacent public easement. Fishing rods and bicycles may also be available (with a limited selection of helmets).

Guest interaction
The host is generally available to answer questions, or offer suggestions for local venues and activities.

Neighborhood overview
Our home is centrally located between downtown Portland (by car or the recently opened MAX orange line), and historic Oregon City, close to the Willamette Falls, Milwaukie Farmers market, the Sellwood shopping and dining area, Mount Hood and the Columbia Gorge. The Milwaukie/Oak Grove trolley trail is close by, offering a safe, scenic artery by which to explore the area, by foot or bicycle.

Getting around
The apartment comes with a dedicated parking space, and nearby public transportation includes the Orange line, for easy, parking-free exploration of the greater Portland area.

Other things to note
The self-contained, recently remodeled apartment boasts a fully-equipped kitchen, with large refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, dishes, glassware, flatware, and cooking and baking utensils. Bar stools accommodate two on-the-go breakfast diners, with additional available on request. We provide a selection of breakfast food items to suit your tastes, on request. (You do the fixing and serving!)

The stocked bathroom/laundry area includes a walk-in closet, washer/dryer, ironing board and iron, and cleaning essentials. A spacious living room includes a dining nook for 4, comfortable family-friendly seating (that opens up into a double XL bed), over-sized plush beanbags (that may also be used as mattresses, for additional children), a projector and screen hook-up for cozy evening entertainment. There is also a smart HD 1080p TV that streams viewing services with a Blue-Ray/DVD player. The upper-level bedroom with a queen bed opens out to a small balcony with a majestic view of the Willamette River. It includes a workstation, a children's nook with a pull-out twin-sized sleeper sofa. The nook is stocked with toys and games, a baby/toddler bassinet, and a closet for personal items.

We have a 5-year-old family dog and a new puppy who are confined to the main property, separate from the guest property.

The space accommodates a total of 4 comfortably, and 6 if two are children under the age of 10.

About the host

Host profile image
Originally from Dublin, Ireland, I have lived and traveled in the US for over 25 years, before settling in Portland in 2013. Portland is the city that is most reminiscent of home, and we enjoy sharing it with new friends. I enjoy cooking and baking, and am slowly learning about gardening in the pacific Northwest.

Why they chose this property

Our home is centrally located between downtown Portland (by car or the recently opened MAX orange line), and historic Oregon City, close to the Willamette Falls, Milwaukie Farmers market, the Sellwood shopping and dining area, Mount Hood and the Columbia Gorge.

The apartment comes with a dedicated parking space, and nearby public transportation includes the Orange line, for easy, parking-free exploration of the greater Portland area.

What makes this property unique

The apartment is a separate building from the main house on the property, and was completed refurbished in 2014, with new carpets, appliances and furniture.

The location on the river is even better than we had hoped for and we're still loving it.
