About this property
Bonshaw Grange-Riverside Country Retreat, & HotTub
Approach down a private lane, enter through electric gates then kick back and relax in this calm, stylish and very private home. With your own private river frontage and small river beach for you to enjoy picnics in the shade of the Chestnut trees. Riverside HotTub and ample garden space for everyone. Enjoy making a pizza in the log burning oven and watch the deer cross each morning. Bonshaw Grange offers all this and more to use as a base for your Gretna wedding or your relaxing vacation.
The space
Bonshaw Grange is built on the Bonshaw Estate where you can find Bonshaw Tower, the seat of the Irving family for nearly 900 years. A magnificent example of a Scottish Border Peel Tower built in the 16th Century, remaining largely unaltered to the present day.
NEW! - We can now offer 2 night Stays, please send us a message in advance, if you would like to book a 2 night stay.

It is a largely open plan property with an eclectic feel to the interior design. You'll feel at home immediately and once you eyes have settled, you'll be drawn to the Kirtle River. There are uninterupped, private views from every rear window as well as the master balcony. The back top garden benefits from a circular pond which leads down to your very own Hot Tub, right by the river. You can relax with a glass of wine in the unbreakable glassware provided.
The Siematic kitchen has a huge window looking over the top garden and a door with access to the verandah. It has Neff appliances, including two ovens, a steamer (great for proving your pizza dough - more about that later) and an induction hob. The hot tap means a cup of tea is always on hand. There is a sage Nespresso coffee maker. If you're feeling adverturous, why not get the Philips Pasta maker down and give it a go. My favourite is to russle up some fresh gelato with the Ice cream maker.
Each of the bedrooms at Bonshaw Grange has their very own personality, there's not a bad room!
The first master shares the first floor with only the office space. It has it's own dressing room overlooking the front of the property but the jewel in the crown has to be it's balcony. Enjoy starry nights with very little light pollution and listen out for our resident owls. This is the only room in the house with air conditioning. The ensuite to the first master has a standalone bath as well as a bidet, a multi point shower, a double vanity with illuminated make up mirror and a hung toilet. There is underfloor heating controlled from the bedroom. There are usb phone charging sockets beside each bed.
The second Master faces the front of the property and has a large mirrored wardrobe as well as matching bedside tables with reading lamps and usb ports for phone charging. The ensuite is spectacular, we have thrown everything at it. You will transported to another world by the Gucci wallpaper, the gilded ceiling and the copper roll top bath.
The 3rd Bedroom is actually two adjoining rooms, to the front of the property, one has a kingsize bed with the other room having a small day bed suitable for a child. There is direct access to the main bathroom from the 3rd bedroom.
Last but certainly not least, the 4th bedroom has some of the best views over the river through the french doors. It has a kingsize modern four posted bed with a tempur mattress. There is no wardrobe in this bedroom make it more spacious.
The generous entrance hall opens into the open plan Great Room. There are two comfy sofas as well as two leather wing chairs around the famous Timothy Oulton propeller coffee table in front of the log burning fire. It's a great space for family get togethers and enjoys a 65" TV with surround sound. The dining space has a huge Timothy Oulton Georgian architechtural dining table made from wood reclaimed from disused buildings in the UK.
Guest access
The owners live with their 3 dogs on site in a caravan to the front parking area. We are out at work all day but available whenever you need general local advice or how to turn the hot tub on or how to get the best out of your stay at Bonshaw Grange. The dogs have their own exercise area, (the orchard) which is fenced off and are not left at the property on their own.
Other things to note
There is an outdoor kennel and run if you need this for your pet. Please advise us if you need this so we can ensure it is disinfected for the protection of your little one.
