About this property
Enjoy the Happiness Haven ~ Be in the heart of New Orleans
Permit #17STR-12088 Be among the fortunate to stay in this charmed Nola abode with free guest parking just steps from the door! Well situated close to The French Quarter, Jazz Fest, Frenchmen St, Esplanade Ave, and beautiful City Park. This is the heart of New Orleans' best attractions, while anchored in a historic Creole neighborhood that has an authentic atmosphere of southern warmth amidst a colorful sampling of New Orleans' architecture. Enjoy old Nawlins' charm with the comfort of the most modern amenities. Great for couples, groups, biz travelers & families.
The open concept floor plan and sunny afternoon exposure give it a welcoming light-filled quality. In typical New Orleans style, The Happiness Haven is made for entertaining and spending quality time with family and friends. Free parking waiting for 1-3 guest cars just steps from your front door!
There is the large open kitchen/living room space (with 55" flat screen TV) where you can relax, make meals together, and enjoy each others' company, as well as the lovely courtyard just outside the side entrance door. The dual-master bedroom suites both have their own private baths. The Murphy bed, 40" flat screen TV, and desk with printer make the 3rd bedroom a space to fulfill many needs. It may be used as a bedroom (which shares a bath with the 2nd Master Bedroom), reading/exercise/meditation room, dedicated office, or secondary TV room when the living room is otherwise occupied or media tastes diverge. In short, The Happiness Haven offers a lot of flexibility all in a beautiful setting that is designed for total comfort and togetherness with plenty of room for everyone to find their very own happy place. The main house was renovated in 2014 and this 1st floor in-law apartment was just completed in the spring of 2017. The house is in the city's historic landmark district.
Host maintains guest comfort, privacy, and space but always available as needed. You have your own private entrance to the apartment directly off of the street and via the courtyard. We may occasionally cross paths walking through the courtyard (fully available for your use throughout your stay) but otherwise, you are not likely to see us unless you message us for assistance.
Note: This is a 1st floor apartment with low ceilings. Surprisingly, the overall brightness of the space and open floor plan make the ceiling height a subtle aspect of the Haven's overall coziness.
The 7th Ward is a historic Creole New Orleans' neighborhood. Many of the rich traditions of New Orleans' culture were born in the 7th Ward. Our home was owned by one of the most prominent Creole families in the city making it part of a long history of family and community of which we feel honored to take part. This area of the 7th Ward is known as Esplanade Ridge because of its proximity to Esplanade Ave and its ridge elevation. It is truly an urban neighborhood - a stone's throw to all the happenings but still with a quiet though friendly local community feel. New Orleans continues to change quickly right before our eyes so our neighborhood is quite mixed with families who have been here for generations and many newcomers to the city. This is also a popular neighborhood for short-term rentals so you will often see other visitors heading your way.
Walk 10 blocks (20 minutes) or take a $8-$10 Uber (approx.) to get to the French Quarter or Frenchmen St. Or, if it is Jazz Fest time, walk, bike, Uber/taxi 12 blocks in the opposite direction to get to the Fair Grounds. Walk three blocks to the picturesque Esplanade Ave. and take the bus or Uber/Lyft to City Park where you can check out the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Sculpture Garden, the Botanical Garden, and so much more!

The hospitality was top notch! Extremely accommodating and the home was a perfect set up for us! The courtyard was a added bonus to start or end our day.
Love the patio!! Low ceilings but cute and clean. It was perfect for our group. We also rented the Happiness House which is above this “apartment” and connects through the patio.
The property was beautiful and very comfortable. Its very close to historic New Orleans, but far enough you can relax. I would totally recommend it for anyone exploring New Orleans.
This was truly an amazing place to stay. Our first time visiting New Orleans and can't wait to return. Only hope we are fortunate enough to rent this same property again. Our hosts were amazing, the accommodations were perfect in every respect and so close to all we wanted to see and do we could walk or take a short Uber ride. 100% would recommend!

Everything we needed!
Stayed 3 nights and wish it could’ve been more. House was close to French quarters easy drive or urber ride away. Aminata was very nice and accommodating. House was very inviting and well updated. My family and I are looking fowared to staying here I. The future.
We had a great time at the Happiness House. The AC in the front room went on the frit, and the owners were very quick to get it repaired. They were also very easy to communicate with.
Great house with two master suites and separated from one another which allowed privacy. Loved that. The sectionals in the house and out in the courtyard were both great for visiting time and seated the four of us very comfortably. The house was outfitted with everything you’d need for a stay in the fair city of New Orleans. It’s a Lyft away from most places you’ll want to visit unless the weather is good and allows walking.
What an amazing time we had !! The host was wonderful at keeping in touch and answering any questions we had, the house was well stocked and they went above and beyond with information and recommendations ! It’s a very close walk to downtown and has everything you might need close by ! The court yard was beautiful and welcoming !! I could go on forever about how great our stay was ! Thank you again !
This home is wonderful- beautiful decor, comfortable beds (even the Murphy bed), and a beautiful courtyard that we enjoyed every morning and evening. Easy, quick uber rides anywhere you want to go. I would recommend using Instacart and having your groceries delivered. We would highly recommend this rental in the Treme neighborhood!

What a wonderful place and location.
Really enjoyed the private courtyard right outside my door everyday to begin my day. A short hop into the French Quarter every morning via bicycle with friendly neighbors and kids at play along a lovely shaded route suitable for walking or riding. In fact I did it both ways into "The Quarter" via bicycle and also walking both ways. Nice exercise. All in all a top notch stay and location with A+ Accomodations.
We booked this location for a biz stay. Relaxing shared outside area to have cold beverages in the evening to unwind (depending on time of year or weather, the outside might be too hot or humid for some but still relaxing), Nice little kitchen area. Only drawback to the inside are low ceilings so if you are over 6 ft. 4 in. it could begin to be a little interesting. I would not recommend for a family with small children. However, my biz is adding it to our list of VRBO to consider.

Nice Place
My daughter was playing in a major slowpitch tournament, and my parents had never been to New Orleans, so I rented this house for 6 of us. It was the perfect place for us. My husband and I enjoy walking around looking at old architecture, so we loved strolling the neighborhoods around the house. People were extremely friendly. We even got a tour of a newly renovated nightly rental, as well as a grand tour of a church that is being turned into a theater.
The owner was wonderful, the outdoor area at the house was very relaxing, and we were very happy. I would highly recommend staying here.

This property was outstanding. It was so comfortable and we felt very safe.
This was the perfect rental for theee friends on a get away. As 3 women traveling alone we felt very safe.....we felt like we were in our own homes. If we had a question about the area....all we had to do was text or call and we immediately had an answer. Each one of us have recommended this property to family....and I don’t know any higher compliment one can give. BRAVO.....GREAT RENTAL.....hope we can come back some time in the future!
Comfortable and clean, this property was the perfect spot for our reunion, we had 5 adults here but could have easily fit 1 or two more. 3 full bedrooms 2 bathrooms and plenty of space to stretch out. The patio was a boon and well used while we were there. Loved having the convenience of a washer dryer on site and the ability to make coffee, tea or a full meal. Check the hosts recommendations for local spots. Easy access to French Quarter via foot, bike, bus...only about a mile away. Will definitely come back!!! Many, many stars!!!
Property was everything we hoped for. Very roomy for all 6 of us. The description mentions low ceilings but honestly, we never even noticed. Outside courtyard was very cool. Nice neighborhood. We parked right next to the entrance. Good location. Very short drive to just about anywhere but also walkable if you're feeling adventurous. We arrived around 11pm and had a little trouble getting in because evidently I have a difficult time reading directions properly. LolI sent a message before I figured out my mistake and and received a reply in just a couple of minutes, in spite of the hour.We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again if we're ever back in New Orleans.

Amazing patio
I would stay there again just because of patio and it had tvs in both bedrooms and the kitchen was wonderful.pEOPLE LEFT A FEW THINGS that they couldnt take on planes,we did too.The neighborhood was centrally located but a little rough around the edge of it. But we had no trouble at all.
My son was coming to visit me in GA, and we decided last minute to make a quick trip to New Orleans. I chose the Happiness Haven because of the size, location, and the fact that it had the Nola vibe, unlike other rentals that could have been anywhere. The neighborhood didn’t look the greatest, but we had no problems at all, people were friendly, and my car was fine parked on the street. We took Ubers to and from the French Quarter for an average cost of 10 to 12 per trip, and it was usually just minutes for one to get to us.The property owners were easy to work with and their communications about the rental, both by message and in the book at the house, were detailed and informative. We had a great stay and would certainly book the same location on any future trips.

I loved this place and didn't want to leave
This has to be my best overall VRBO experience. The location is near the French Quarter, within walking distance or a relaxing bicycle ride away. Accommodations are first rate. What a pleasant surprise to walk into a spotless New Orleans flat with separate entry, large closets (no owner clothes), comfortable king beds, newly remodeled and with new furnishings. It was also spotlessly clean - What a value! I really didn't want to leave. New Orleans is a wonderful gem of a city. Great Jazz, great food and there is always a party. I hope these accommodations are available for me the next time I can visit this beautiful city. I can easily recommend this to others. Thanks Aminata for your help during my stay I love your place!

Do your research on location
I was very happy with the clean, spacious, and pretty apartment. It was very nicely decorated and fit seven woman comfortably. But unfortunately, the location was not in a very safe area. Our very first Uber driver suggested we pack our bags and go to a hotel in a different neighborhood. Every Uber driver after that, mentioned in one way or another, that we were in a very bad neighborhood. They mentioned drug activity and prostitutes, male and female. They also said crime such as robbery and shootings. So, although we had no issues, thank God, If you are nervous about your surroundings, I would book elsewhere. I'm sorry to the owners, who seem like very nice people. They have a beautiful home, but in a bad location.
We found the home exactly as advertised. The owners were most helpful and very responsive. Always replying to my questions within the hour - usually within 30 minutes.
The home was very comfortable and it was lovely to have some of the basics supplied in the kitchen - spices etc. The washer and dryer were lovely to have and laundry soap was even provided.
The outdoor sitting area was a great place for our morning coffee and end of day wind down. So comfortable and fit all 7 of us easily.
Location was not close enough to walk to the French Quarter but was only a $10 UBER or a short walk (5 minutes) to the bus - this is what we were searching for. Close but not noisy. We went for walks in the neighborhood and felt safe. Parking was right outside the gated courtyard. While not off the street we did not worry about our rental Van at all, we felt very secure leaving it there.
If I was ever to return to NOLA I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend the place.
