Welcome to the small and cozy village of Sjörup just outside Ystad. Here you can live in a house with the beautiful plains as your nearest neighbor and close to Mossbystrand. Just nearby is the restaurant "15 Minuter en Kvart" which serves great pizzas on a terrace overlooking the fields. Believe it or not, a camel also walks here and grazes in the pasture outside. In the village of Sjörup, there is an old church from the 12th century which is worth a visit, and next to it there is a rune stone which is believed to originate from the 9th century. In several places in the village there are historical signs with information about various buildings and people who once lived and worked here. Take the opportunity to read about my great-grandfather, Ernst Svensson, who was the village blacksmith at the beginning of the 20th century. All around are open fields with beautiful views and grazing horses, perfect for long walks. Wonderful Mossbystrand is reached via a small gravel road two kilometers to the south where there is a kiosk with plenty of toys for the kids and they sell ice cream and food. Beyond Mossbystrand you will find an old fishing village called Abbekås, here there is also a nice golf course, four kilometers from the accommodation. In the neighboring village of Rynge, freshly baked rolls are sold every Saturday morning at the local baker, and at Rynge Idrottsplats there is both a playground and training opportunities. In the surrounding areas there are many old and fine churches and castles, e.g. Vallösa Church, Marsvinsholm Castle and Svaneholm Castle.

The cottage was super-warm and cosy, clean and stylishly decorated.
The location is quite remote (about 15 minutes drive into Ystad) and there are no facilities on your doorstep. Bearing this in mind, it would have been lovely to find a pint of milk in the fridge for tea/coffee on arrival. Also, the kettle was broken - a minor issue as we used a saucepan to heat water, but I seem to remember a previous review mentioned this, so clearly the owner had forgotten to buy a new one.
Ted was a great communicator and organised a refund of one cleaning fee for us (I messed up the booking) so thanks Ted!
Overall this cottage is delightful - quiet, cosy and very comfortable. We would recommend to anyone who wants to explore this area.
