Smoky and Terrible Communication
This was a terrible stay all the way around. First off, the listing advertises sleeping accommodations for 5. I had 5 people on my reservation. A few days before the stay, I received an email from the host with, among other things, a note that if I wanted bedding for the sofabed (one of the listed beds for the 5), I would need to pay a separate 20 GBP for bedding. I pointed out that I already paid for and listed 5 and they were unhelpful. I then engaged VRBo directly, who was consistently unable to reach the host even though they are a "preferred property management partner." Once I did arrive, I realized I had no lockbox code and the host had never provided a means to access the property. I contacted the host and did not get an answer, then got VRBO on the phone. Only then did I get the lockbox code from the host, after 7pm local time. Then, we get inside the property to a smell of cigarette smoke in the common area. I go upstairs and the stench is much more noticeable. There were about a dozen cigarette butts right outside the back door in the garden. The host sent over their cleaners who acknowledged the smell and butts and then the host did absolutely nothing about it. I am still waiting for the "VRBO specialized team" to tell me how this will be remedied. While this place is listed as "modern" and "refreshing," we found it neither. It is janky and needing repairs, and the neighborhood is mediocre at best, seems to be somewhat sketchy at night. I do not recommend!
