About this property

THE NOOK, pet friendly, character holiday cottage in Long Melford

This period thatched cottage rests in Cavendish and can sleep six people in three bedrooms.

The Nook is a simply charming Grade II listed property boasting an array of idyllic period features throughout.

The Nook originally started off being called Iona when it was built in the late 17th century with 'The Nook being added on at a later date, then being three separate properties. During the early 1900's the central cottage was being run as a sweet shop, to this day the original shop window can still be seen.

The Nook is located in the village of Cavendish, boasting a beautiful village green, walks by the Stour Valley, and two wonderful eateries. Located just 4.6 miles from the wonderful quintessential English Village of Long Melford and 8 miles from England's best preserved medieval town of Lavenham.

On the ground floor is a large open plan kitchen/dining room, sitting room, garden room, bedroom and shower room. On the first floor are two bedrooms and additional shower room. Outside is an ample size garden with seating area.

Amenities: Central heating. Gas/Electric oven, grill and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher. Smart TV, WiFi. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off-road parking for 1 car. Enclosed garden, lawns, patio, patio furniture. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 0.1 miles, pub 0.1 miles. Note: Sorry, no unaccompanied teenagers. Note: Due to the age and quirky nature of this property there are some uneven floors and restricted head heights in certain areas. Note: A number of rooms have a small number of steps leading into them or within them.

Region: Picturesque rolling Fens, unspoilt beaches, and pretty waterways – East Anglia is a dream holiday destination. Norfolk offers beaches, saltmarshes and quaint villages whilst equally as charming are the coast and countryside of Suffolk.

Town: Long Melford is a former medieval wool town, and is known as the 'Antique Capital of Suffolk', with a wealth of antique shops, art galleries, tea rooms, restaurants and independent shops, found down the wide tree-lined main street. The village also has the National Trust property Melford Hall, which is unchanged since 1578, and a magnificent 15th Century church which sits on top of the hill at one end of the village. On the outskirts is Kentwell Hall, which has authentic re-creations of everyday life in Tudor or World War II times. The chocolate-box picturesque village of Lavenham is just 5 miles, and Sudbury is 3.5 miles, which makes this village an ideal location to explore Constable Country.
