A wonderful house in a lovely village

We loved everything about Chapel house. The wonderful architectural mix of new elements in an old setting paired with all modern cons like underfloor heating. The welcome packet as we arrived warmed our hearts. Every aspect of the house is so welcoming, as was our host Shelley. One tiny thing we had a slight problem with was the heating, the house was cold and guests not allowed to touch the thermostat or doing any adjustments. We only noticed later in the night and did not want to call after hours. But this aside, we would happily return and hope to be able to do so in the future.

Beautiful place

Warm, beautifully designed and a great welcome basket. The underfloor heating kept the Chapel lovely and warm (when it switched off at night there were a few loud bangs as the wooden floor contracted). The attention to detail was superb from the fitted kitchen and appliances to the soft furnishings, lamps and pictures. It was lovely to have the goodies in the welcome basket after travelling. The location of the Chapel meant that shops and cafes were in easy reach, both walking and driving in the area. The outside side walkway where the bins were, was fine for our little dog and the small seating area.

Fantastic stay at Chapel House!

We absolutely loved staying at Chapel House! It is a beautiful home, decorated in a modern way in keeping with its heritage. You can see the attention to detail in all the photographs of the house restoration. There are pubs and a local shop nearby (walking distance) and easy access to all the main towns in the Cotswolds. The house was spotless and there was even milk, butter and bread waiting for us along with tea and coffee! We will definitely be back and would encourage anyone thinking of staying at Chapel House to just go ahead and book - you will not regret it!

Long weekend at Chapel House

We spent the Easter weekend at the Chapel House in Bampton. The property has been developed to a high standard and provides 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a large open plan downstairs space. It is very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. A lovely welcome hamper in the kitchen included eggs, bread, butter, milk, hot cross buns and chocolate treats. The property was extremely clean. We received a text on our arrival date letting us know that we could enter the property earlier than the 5pm given time which was helpful. Bampton is a lovely village with a couple of pubs, 2 cafes, a very nice restaurant and a butchers and deli. There are some nice walks around the area. We would definitely recommend this property for 2 couples holidaying together. One thing to note is that there is limited outdoor space, no garden at all, no parking on site but available on the local roads.

Fantastic house to stay in but be aware really no garden or outside area

Two couples staying and the accommodation was just amazing the sitting room is just a wonderful space and the chairs/sofas are really comfortable and there are enough for everybody to spread out if they wish. The kitchen is excellently equipped and gorgeous and the whole place has been converted and done up to an extremely high standard. The only comment we would make, apart from the garden seeming from the photographs to be bigger with better seating than it actually is, is that the bedding and linen and especially pillows weren't the best quality particularly the pillows which we thought were really cheap quality, and some of us didn't sleep that well with them so take your own if you are pillow fastpot like I obviously am! Although I have rated this as excellent value for money that is due to the wonderful space the chapel has reflecting how much we enjoyed staying within this space. And I'm really sorry I forgot to put the fully stacked dishwasher on before we left! Although the booking procedure will stay Cotswold was very straightforward the follow-up with lots of emails and lots of documents to open and links that didn't work or seem to tell you nothing was rather ownerous, however the team at stakehotswolds are lovely and very helpful!

Great property with bags of character and finished to a very high standard. Immaculate and very comfortable with good facilities and great pubs /walks/coffee shops in the village. Needed to contact the agent to report a repair. Response was swift. Would thoroughly recommend. We had a lovely stay.

Chapel House - a delightful property in the heart of the Cotswolds

We stayed at Chapel House for a week in August. The house is a beautifully renovated chapel with incredible attention to detail. It is spotlessly clean and extremely well maintained. The owners have thought of everything to make their guests feel both comfortable and at home. The beds are really comfortable, as is the sofa in the lounge. There is plenty of space for four people. There's lots to do in the Cotswolds - but this property is so lovely, we actually spent one of the days just relaxing 'at home'.

An excellent over all experience

Could not have been better! An excellent, professional booking and management service from Stay Cotswolds, we would definitely use them again. A very well looked after property, well provisioned in terms of things you may need to the house. A very good location with walks on your doorstep if you have a dog. Only one minor comment is the TV that switches itself on in the primary bedroom (there is a notice), however it would be better if it was replaced.

Chapel House review

Impressive building, well renovated. Bedroom 2, the mattress not the most comfortable. The outside seating space very disappointing, I knew it was small, but the benches need some attention. As it was a particularly hot weekend, the fans in the bedrooms were invaluable. Overall a nice weekend getaway.

Lovely but not suitable for elderly

Lovely property that was ideally located. Good standard of fittings, and nice touches with welcome basket.Parking was easy, even on a weekend evening, lovely walks from the doorstep. However, there is no garden, just a gravel passageway next to the house. The staircase steps are very narrow on the two turns meaning one member of our party had a significant fall and one stumbled. Luckily there was a good first aid kit! I struggled with not having a window in the bedroom as the high, small, velux window was shaded, and as stated in the description can not be opened. It would have been helpful to have some information regarding the appliances as there are no instructions available. So a lovely place, great situation, thoughtful touches but with some drawbacks.

A beautiful chapel to stay in

Chapel house was a very pretty, cleverly designed to accommodate 4 people very comfortably, made all the better for being able to take my daughter’s dog! It’s got everything you need to make it a home from home, the kitchen is very well equipped, the sitting room comfortable with a lovely log burner (easy to use), a big utility room and both bedrooms were so lush! For us the only downside was you have no control over the heating and it was too hot for us and certainly for the dog as it was underfloor heating, probably loved by most people and dogs! You could open a couple of windows. (Not in the rain though) but it would kick start the boiler on if temperature dropped too much! The boiler came on at 430 am for a long time in the morning and seemed to ‘kettle’ a bit so was noisy. The outside tap could do with a small hose on it so one could wash the dog after some very muddy long walks( great countryside!) We did lots of circular walks from the house which took us to pubs en route! All that moaning aside I would happily recommend this place to anyone! It was a joy to stay in, and Shelley was very quick to respond which was great ( thank you for the treats on arrival!)

Great place and lovely location

The property was really clean, renovated to a high standard and very well equiped. A lovely place to stay. Our only comment is that the heating was set at too high a temperature and we could not turn it either off or down. We had brought logs for the wood burner but could not use and struggled to open windows. I appreciate that the owner did not want the controls messed with but it was quite uncomfortable; the temperature should be lower or there at least be the ability to switch the whole thing off.

Unique relaxing stay in a converted chapel in Bampton

We stayed a week at this unique chapel conversion in Bampton. We loved the location and the charm of the property. It had a lovely feeling as soon as we walked through the door with the open plan living space. The property is clean and modern with a fully equipped kitchen for all our holiday self catering needs. We would recommend this property to others.
