About this property

Fabulous hot tub cottage with Snowdon views!

My charming cottage, Bwthyn (the Welsh word for “cottage”!) is set in a superb location in the very heart of Snowdonia.
Located in Capel Curig, probably the best destination in North Wales for climbing, hillwalking and mountain biking, this cosy cottage makes the perfect base for an adventurous or relaxing break in this stunning part of the world.
And the best bits – the gorgeous hand made cedar hot tub and the fabulous view of Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales!

The space
Bwthyn is a beautifully renovated cosy cottage in the heart of Snowdonia, close to everything that Capel Curig has to offer.
This is probably the best location in North Wales for access to the mountains and the many superb outdoor pursuits for which this part of the world is so renowned.
Although the cottage is small it is remarkably comfortable for up to four guests.
The lovely open plan lounge and dining area is full of character and has a log burner for those cooler evenings. There is a fully equipped kitchen with all crockery, cutlery and utensils that you could want.
There are two bedrooms upstairs. The larger, main bedroom has a double bed and the second smaller bedroom has twin beds. There is ample storage in both rooms and all bed linen and towels are provided.
The newly renovated luxury shower and toilet are downstairs, and guests should be aware that the ‘smallest room’ really is the smallest room! (But who wants to spend their holiday in there anyway?!!)
Oh, and pets are welcome (although please let me know if you plan on bringing more than two)!

Guest access
The cottage is yours for the duration of your stay. In addition there is a seating area at the front of the cottage and your own beautiful wooden hot tub!

There is parking at the cottage for a maximum of two small vehicles. The parking area is located below the cottage, which is accessed via some steps, so guests with limited mobility may find this a problem. Please also note that the front garden is open and has a wall with a high (approx. 7 feet) drop to the parking area below. It is important that guests are aware of this and therefore do not let children play in the garden.
Other things to note
The outdoor hot tub is located at the front of the property next to the seating area, so as to benefit from the views of Snowdon down the valley. We have screened off the area so that it is quite secluded, although don't expect complete privacy.

OUR GORGEOUS CEDAR HOT TUBS!

We have now installed a fabulous hand made cedar hot tub! So now you can relax in true luxury and style!

The gorgeous hot tub really is a thing of beauty as well as being as environmentally friendly as possible! Lovingly crafted out of the finest sustainable cedar by the experts at Rustic Tubs our new hot tubs are heated by the latest air-source heat pump technology, giving improved heating times, better heat retention and lower energy consumption.

We made the decision to ditch the plastic and go for a natural wooden hot tub. Yet we know that guests love the convenience, simplicity and safety of having an electrically heated hot tub, so rather than go down the route of wood-fired hot tubs (which require guests to build and maintain a fire to heat the water) we opted for heat pump technology to make the experience as low impact as possible.

We also removed the jets and bubbles from the hot tub, opting instead for a much more gentle flowing water circulation system. Some guests will be surprised by this, and think that hot tubs need to have bubbles, but hot tubs without bubbles are much better, for several reasons:

Bubbles are cool, but not in a good way! The bubbles in a hot tub are filled with cold air! This cold air cools down the hot tub really quickly and before long your hot tub is a cool tub! So it means less time in the tub and more time and energy to heat it up.

The hot tub jets collect water and are very hard to clean. So that means more chemicals.

Bubbles and jets make a lot of noise! So you have to talk really loudly to be heard, which isn't ideal for guests or neighbours.

Without bubbles the hot tub is a warmer, cleaner, calmer and more environmentally friendly place to be. Much better for guests and for everyone.

Hello! I’m Ian!
I'm a father, fun-seeker, and a firm believer in living life to its fullest!
I spend most of my time living just outside Preston in the northwest of England, although I travel a lot so I’m never far from my next adventure! I've always sought to craft a life that's a bit out of the ordinary. Whether it's the fresh air, the joy of travel, or the thrill of meeting new people, I've aimed to fill my life with experiences that enrich, inspire and make lasting memories.

Why they chose this property

My love of the outdoors led me to Snowdonia, and in particular to Capel Curig, a delightful village that sits at the confluence of North Wales's three main mountain ranges. It is a really special place, and one that I have held close to my heart for almost a quarter of a century! It's here that I own three holiday cottages, each a gateway to the incredible adventures that Snowdonia offers. This part of north Wales is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. A place where relaxing peace and heart-racing excitement go hand in hand!

What makes this property unique

Maybe you want to climb the tallest mountain in Wales? Or perhaps you'd prefer to just sip wine and look at it from the front of your cottage! Maybe you want to ride your mountain bike around some of the best mountain biking in the UK? Or maybe you'd rather relax in the luxury of your hand made wooden hot tub? Whatever your 'thing', this really is a fantastic place to visit and this cottage has absolutely everything you need for the best stay ever!
I believe in the transformative power of travel and the outdoors and I love the magic that comes from sharing the beauty of this place with guests. It's about connecting, sharing stories, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
