About this property
Quaint cottage in peaceful village with a restaurant in wine-making country !
This peaceful rural village is surrounded by forests and vineyards, with delightful walks, right from the door. This home-from-home is equally perfect for a relaxing family holiday or romantic get-away. It is located as a base to explore central Portugal. The excavated Roman town of Conimbriga is just 10 mins drive away and the property is within 3/4 hour driving distance to the Serra da Lousa mountains to the East, Figueira da Foz on the coast to the west & the city of Coimbra to the north.
The village has a cafe & restaurant (O Careca-3 minutes walk) serving traditional regional food and local wines. They can also provide a takeaway service, to be collected.
Downstairs, the house has a bathroom and a large kitchen with a washing machine and large dining table. Upstairs, there are 2 small bedrooms and a spacious sitting room with lovely balcony views, DVD's, books and games. Smoking is not allowed in the house, but permitted in the patio, garden & balcony areas. All of which have fantastic views across the valley to the village chapel & mountains beyond.
The nearest town is Miranda do Corvo, (7km or 10 mins drive), which has supermarkets, a biological park, museum, beauty salons, swimming pools, horse riding, cinema and a farmer's market on Wednesday mornings.
Parking is on the side of a quiet village road & the property has a short but steep entrance lane, so we are sorry, but it is not suitable for disabled access.
We look forward to welcoming you.

About the host
Hosted by Casa da Casimira
I am a retired archaeologist, originally from the UK, now working as a stained glass artist. My husband Donal is a builder working with a local Portuguese crew, and originally from Ireland.
We bought Casa de Casimira in 2005 as a ruin and spent many happy years renovating the house and holidaying here.
Every time we visited we felt more and more at home and eventually we couldn't resist the charm of the village and moved permanently in 2017.
We now live in an old farm house on the other side of the village.
We love it here and have never looked back, we hope you also find a home-from-home here and are equally entranced by the charms of the village.
