About this property
Charming Art House in Walthamstow Village
Our charmingly curated home promises a relaxing and calming stay in an artistic Victorian house, with all mod-cons, dating from 1869.
Located in London’s historic and vibrant Walthamstow Village, our home has two double bedrooms, a dressing room, one bathroom, a fully-equipped kitchen and a spacious dining /sitting room.
Offering the boutique feel of a grown-up space downstairs and the tranquil feel of a peaceful sanctuary upstairs, it also features a relaxing, plant-filled garden to enjoy.
The space
Once you enter through our stained-glass front door, the hallway features an ironwork mirror, Moroccan light-fittings, eclectic art and flamboyant wallpaper.
Our large entertaining room carries on the theme, playing host to a wide variety of objects, artefacts and furniture that we have collected on our travels throughout the globe. With two beautiful period fireplaces and elegant bronzed radiators, it has a six-person dining table by the bay windows while at the other end you find a TV den with two comfy leather sofas and a locally inspired William Morris patterned footstool, by the French doors. We use the doors in warm weather to lead into our garden seating area.
We are both food lovers and our well-equipped kitchen - which includes a large chrome fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave - is great for cooking in, with a full complement of pots, pans, crockery, glasses and more, plus spices and recipe books galore. Vintage chairs wheel out from underneath a cosy breakfast nook for eating and relaxing, and there’s a full length glass door leading out to our decked, south facing garden.
Brimming with wisteria, lilac, honeysuckle, an ivy-clad back wall, and various other pots and plants, on sunny days it’s a great place to sit in and unwind, simply drinking in the surprising private calm of the village area. It also features a beautiful statue of a gold angel to welcome you home!
The master bedroom features an inviting super-king-sized bed from Lombok to give a quality good night’s rest, while the second double bedroom has another very comfortable bed and looks out over the garden courtyard. The third room upstairs provides a dressing room with walk-in wardrobe and leads to our modern bathroom which features an overhead rainfall shower, as well as a free-standing bath.
Throughout the house our collection of prints, art, objects and eclectica provide a colourful record of our time spent in other places.
Our house is a wonderfully relaxing space for adults and grown-up children, but would not be suitable for young children. It would suit family members or two couples sharing, but is not suitable for groups. It is prohibited to use the house for parties.
Guest access: Guests can access all areas but the loft storage room
Other things to note
Located in Walthamstow Village, which has consistently been voted one of London’s best neighbourhoods by the likes of Time Out (who named it "the coolest place to live in London" in 2022) and the Evening Standard, we have several superb restaurants and takeaways, a bakery, a juice bar and many high quality shops, pubs, breweries and bars.
Our village high street features an award-winning supermarket to stock up on supplies. We also have a beautiful old church, dating from the 12th Century, and period buildings - some stretching as far back at the 14th Century - alongside stand-out destinations such as God’s Own Junkyard, an entertaining palace of neon, used in films and video shoots.
Epping Forest countryside is just a few minutes walk away, with plenty of beautiful nature walks and a large boating lake, perfect for Sunday afternoon strolls or, for those of an active disposition, a great place to go running. We are also walking distance from the William Morris Gallery, Lloyd Park, and the Soho Theatre Walthamstow, due to open in early 2025. And just a little further on are the spectacular 520 acres of Walthamstow Wetlands, an internationally important wildlife reserve.
Extremely well-connected for transport options, our home makes an ideal stay not just for those who are visiting Walthamstow, but for anyone wishing to explore Central London. With just a 10-15 minute walk connecting you to both Walthamstow Central underground station (where the Victoria Line speeds you into Kings Cross & Oxford Circus in under twenty minutes) and Wood Street station (with direct trains straight into Liverpool Street and the City) there are also multiple bus routes to explore the area.
We also have very easy access to the North Circular, M11 and M25, which is ideal for drivers or those arriving in cabs from airports.

About the host
Hosted by William Luff

I own and run a music PR agency in London, where I live with my husband, Coman. We are lucky enough to travel frequently and enjoy seeing new places and meeting new people. After many years, staying in various homes and locations through private hosting sites, we are excited to become hosts ourselves and allow guests to experience our own home, in a wonderful part of London.
