About this property
Holiday Home Maridu Ayla
Wake up to the soft rustle of trees, brew a coffee in the sleek kitchen and step straight onto your private terrace—right on the edge of De Hoge Veluwe National Park, your day starts relaxed. Holiday Home Maridu – Ayla is a detached, light and modern chalet with a private garden: a place where comfort, nature and style meet. Every day feels like a Sunday.
The space
Daylight pours in on calm, warm tones and comfortable upholstery (our specialty). The living area has a cosy sofa, a dining table for long breakfasts and a smart TV for movie nights. The open kitchen is fully equipped (oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, filter coffee and kettle), so you can whip up anything from a quick pasta to a full dinner.
There are two bedrooms: one with a double bed and one with two separate single beds—ideal for a family, two couples or friends. The bathroom is modern and practical with a walk-in shower. Fast Wi-Fi covers the entire home, and there is private parking right next to the chalet.
Outdoor living
Your terrace and garden catch the sun until late afternoon—perfect for coffee, sundowners or a barbecue. Birds as regular neighbours, endless walking and cycling just around the corner. In the park you’ll find shared facilities such as an indoor pool, play areas and (seasonal) food & reception.
Guest access & arrival
You have the entire chalet to yourself. Collect the key at the park entrance from a lockbox (not at the front door); you’ll receive your unique code well before arrival. Then drive or walk on to Ayla and your holiday begins.
Interaction
Before your stay we’ll be in touch via messages with all practical info and tips. Just before arrival you’ll receive the details of our hostess Sonja. She is on site and your first point of contact for check-in, any questions during your stay and also right after departure (e.g., forgotten items or feedback). We remain available in the background if needed.

About the host
Hosted by Tim Duifhuizen

Hi! We’re Holiday Homes Maridu—a small, family-run hosting team from the Netherlands. I co-own the company with my brother, and we look after a handful of thoughtfully designed homes around the Veluwe. My background is in furniture upholstery and interior styling, so I’m obsessed with comfort and flow: the feel of fabrics, good lighting, and spaces that make you exhale the moment you walk in.
Why we love hosting? Because travel is about feeling at home somewhere new. Nothing beats hearing that a guest slept wonderfully, discovered a favorite trail, or shared a slow breakfast on the terrace. Our motto is simple: every day feels like a Sunday—unhurried, warm, and easy.
We keep things practical and personal: clear info before arrival, smooth key pickup, and quick responses. Our on-site hostess Sonja is nearby and happy to help with check-in, local tips, or the little things that make a stay effortless. We’re locals who hike, bike, and café-hop across the area, so ask us for routes, kid-friendly stops, or a great bakery.
What you can expect from us: honest photos, sparkling-clean spaces, quality beds and linens, and small touches like starter essentials and a few curated recommendations. Hosting is about care—and we care a lot. We’d love to welcome you to Ayla and help you make easy, lasting memories.

Why they chose this property
We chose this area because it offers the best of two worlds: deep, quiet nature on the edge of De Hoge Veluwe and the creative, welcoming city vibe of Arnhem just minutes away. Step outside and you’re among forests, heathland and sandy plains; in late summer the heather turns purple, in autumn deer roam at dusk, winter brings crisp, silent walks, and spring bursts with fresh greens. Well-marked trails and bike paths start nearby (including the park’s free white bicycles), so it’s easy to wander, run, or ride without planning.
At the same time, culture is close at hand: the Kröller-Müller Museum with Van Gogh works and a sculpture garden, Burgers’ Zoo, the Open-Air Museum, and Arnhem’s Sonsbeek Park with its water features and pavilions. We love the café terraces in Oosterbeek and Otterlo, Saturday market treats, and the way locals greet you on the trail—there’s a friendly, village feel.
Practicality matters too: quick access by car and good public transport links, supermarkets and restaurants within a short drive, yet nights remain calm and starry. For families, the mix is ideal—adventures by day, peaceful evenings on the terrace. For couples and friends, it’s a place to slow down without sacrificing good coffee, galleries, or a memorable dinner.
In short: we chose this area because it lets you exhale. You can fill your days with nature and culture, then come “home” to a comfortable base that makes every day feel like a Sunday.

What makes this property unique
A thoughtfully designed hideaway—where nature meets comfort.
What sets Holiday Home Maridu – Ayla apart is the blend of a curated interior and a doorstep-to-nature location. The home is styled by a furniture-upholstery & interiors specialist, so everything—from the fabrics you touch to the light where you read—has been chosen for calm, comfort and flow. It’s a freestanding, light-filled chalet with a private garden and sun-catching terrace, so mornings start slow and evenings end easy.
Slow design, smart details.
Ayla isn’t copy-paste decor: soothing tones, quality textiles, supportive mattresses, and a fully equipped kitchen mean you genuinely settle in. Fast Wi-Fi and a proper dining/work table make it great for remote work, too.
Seamless stay, personal support.
Arrival is effortless with a secure lockbox at the park entrance (late check-ins are no problem). Before your trip we share clear info and a mini-guide. Our on-site hostess, Sonja, is your first point of contact during the stay—quick help, local tips, real presence.
Best-of-both-worlds location.
Step into the forests and heath of De Hoge Veluwe for hiking and cycling; reach Arnhem’s culture, cafés and museums in minutes. On-park shared amenities (including an indoor pool and play areas) keep families smiling, while the chalet itself remains private and quiet.
Made for real life.
Two separate bedrooms suit families, couples or friends. There’s private parking beside the home and storage for bikes or a stroller. Highchair/playpen available on request; a well-organized kitchen so dinners are easy after long days outside.
In short: Ayla stands out because it’s intentionally crafted—not just somewhere to sleep, but a place to breathe, connect and feel taken care of. Every day feels like a Sunday.
