About this property

Skeet Cottage, Burnham Market, Norfolk

A delightful period property located in the heart of North Norfolk's most picturesque village, Burnham Market. Full of character and charm, Skeet Cottages showcases a wealth of original features sympathetically reflected by elegantly relaxed and traditional styling. A short walk from the front door leads to the village's pretty green surrounded by independent shops.

Originally two Georgian cottages, Skeet Cottage was subsequently converted to become one lovely holiday home. Period features abound with beamed ceilings, latch doors, stone floors and steep Norfolk winder stairways at either end of the cottage. As you enter the cottage from the front door and step into the dining room, you may step back in time and wonder at who else might have walked through this door in days gone by. However rest assured, Skeet Cottage is very evidently no longer living in the past and enjoys all mod cons. Comfortable, and spacious, the ground floor is made up of three principal rooms; a dining hall with a decorative fireplace welcomes you to the cottage, the sitting room next door also has an original fireplace, but this one houses a wood burning stove to keep you extra cosy as the nights drawn in, and lastly a well-equipped fitted country style kitchen with Rangemaster stove which overlooks the enclosed courtyard garden. Next door to the kitchen is a utility; a useful space with laundry facilities, and a stable door to the garden, as well as a separate shower room at the far end. Up the steep stairs, on the first floor are two bedrooms; a master bedroom with a king-size wooden bed, and a twin room with wrought iron twin beds. Both have use of a large family bathroom with a free-standing slipper bath, as well as a shower cubicle. Skeet Cottage enjoys a private, fully enclosed south facing walled garden, a very pleasant place to spend a lazy afternoon. Or take a seat and pour the wine while a delicious supper is cooking on the barbecue, perhaps using some local produce bought earlier in the day.

This character cottage is a lovely holiday option for either a couple or two, or a small family with older children, who are searching for an easy base for either staying locally or exploring further afield. Maybe embark on a coastal walk to Burnham Overy Staithe where you can watch the boats or catch a ferry to the mysterious, secluded Scolt Head Island. Enjoy the wide, sandy beaches at Brancaster, great for playing beach games and kitesurfing, or visit the popular coastal destination of Wells-next-the-Sea with its picturesque harbour and colourful beach huts, all within six miles.
