Gorgeous getaway with my partner, amazing location!

Myself and my partner stayed in this beautiful cottage for 5 nights. It's safe to say the property has everything you need for a perfect, tranquil stay by the sea. Overlooking Old Leigh you couldn't fault the location, close to the station and some pubs! Property was clean and bed was extremely comfortable. Some beautiful touches made to this property we loved the work from home area on the third floor. Could talk all day about how amazing it was but to sum it all up all I will say is... we will definitely be back!

Cottage renovated to high standard

Cottage is no. 20 not 61 as in your details. Beautifully renovated cottage with no expense spared but not suitable for elderly or children due to steep stairs. Very generous welcome pack but would have appreciated a pint of milk as no shop nearby. Parking in public car park and can be difficult to find space during day but free after 6 pm - 8 am. Location lovely but can be noisy.

About the host

Host profile image
Hi, I’m Becky — a full-time property manager based in beautiful Southend-on-Sea. Our local family run business called 'Properties-on-Sea' and I’m genuinely passionate about hosting and absolutely love showcasing everything my local area has to offer. Whether it’s the seaside charm, lively cultural spots, or the hidden gems only locals know about, I take great pride in helping guests experience the very best of Southend and the surrounding area.

With years of experience in hospitality and property management, I’ve developed a deep understanding of what makes a stay truly memorable. I aim to create welcoming, comfortable homes that feel like a true retreat — whether you’re here for a short break, working locally, or exploring the Essex coast. Every detail in my properties is thoughtfully considered to make sure your stay is as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

One of the things I love most about hosting is getting to meet people from all walks of life and hearing about their travels. I’m always happy to share local tips — from the best places to grab coffee by the seafront, to scenic walking routes, quirky independent shops, or where to find the tastiest fish and chips.

Southend is more than just a beach town — it’s full of personality, character, and community, and I’m thrilled to help visitors see it through the eyes of a local. Whether you’re coming for work, a family visit, or simply to relax and recharge, I’m here to make sure your stay is stress-free and full of good memories.

Thanks for considering one of my homes — I’d be delighted to host you!

Why they chose this property

Old Leigh is one of those rare places that feels like stepping into a postcard — full of charm, character, and history, with the peaceful rhythm of the tide never far away. Nestled along the estuary in Leigh-on-Sea, it’s a beautifully preserved fishing village that offers a glimpse into the area's maritime heritage, with cobbled streets, weathered boats, and working cockle sheds lining the water’s edge.

What I love most about Old Leigh is its relaxed, unpolished authenticity. There's a calm, timeless feel here that instantly makes you slow down. The scent of saltwater, the sound of gulls overhead, and the sight of fishing boats bobbing gently in the harbour all come together to create a genuinely special atmosphere. It’s no wonder so many visitors fall in love with it.

Whether it’s enjoying fresh seafood right on the quay, wandering through the small art galleries and independent shops, or watching the sun set over the estuary with a drink in hand, Old Leigh has something for everyone. The pubs here are full of character — many with live music spilling out on summer evenings, and welcoming fires through the winter months.

It’s also a brilliant place for walking. The coastal path stretches from Old Leigh all the way toward Southend, offering ever-changing views across the mudflats and salt marshes. It’s a favourite for locals and visitors alike — whether you're an early riser out for a peaceful stroll, or you're here to catch the golden light as the sun goes down.

As someone who lives and works locally, I never tire of this area. There’s a real sense of community, creativity, and pride in Leigh-on-Sea, and Old Leigh is its heart. I always recommend it to guests because it captures the best of what seaside Essex has to offer.

What makes this property unique

What makes my regenerated cottages in Leigh-on-Sea truly stand out is the perfect blend of modern comfort and coastal charm. Each cottage has been thoughtfully restored with attention to detail, combining stylish interiors with the character and warmth you'd expect from a classic seaside home.

Set in a peaceful yet well-connected part of Leigh-on-Sea, the cottages offer a calm retreat while still being just a short stroll from the vibrant Broadway, the train station, and the stunning views and seafood spots of Old Leigh. Whether guests are here for work, a weekend escape, or a longer stay, the location strikes that ideal balance of convenience and tranquility.

Inside, you’ll find high-quality finishes, fully equipped kitchens, and bright, airy spaces designed for both relaxation and functionality. Comfortable beds, soft linens, smart TVs, and fast Wi-Fi come as standard — making the cottages just as suited for remote working or extended stays as they are for holidays. Some even feature private gardens or outdoor seating areas, perfect for enjoying a sunny morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.

What guests often tell me they love most is the welcoming, homely feel. I’ve put care into making sure everything is thoughtfully laid out, with practical touches like dedicated workspace areas, local guides, and even a few treats to help you settle in. I want guests to feel like they’re not just staying somewhere — they’re living in it.

What also sets the cottages apart is the connection to the local area. You’re not in a generic rental — you’re in a space that reflects the charm of Leigh-on-Sea, from local artwork on the walls to insider recommendations on where to eat, shop, and explore.

I take pride in offering a personal, attentive hosting experience. Whether it’s a smooth self check-in, flexibility when needed, or quick responses to questions, I’m here to make every stay as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
