About this property
Gite La Terre, lovely Gite 35 m2, 2 Persons. Large terrace with great views
Luxury gite of 35 m2 for two people. Bright and spacious, with stunning views. The living room, with flat-screen TV, has an open kitchen equipped with all modern conveniences. The bedroom, with luxury king-size box spring (180x200), adjoins a fully equipped en suite bathroom. Holiday home La Terre has its own terrace facing south-west. A lovely place to have breakfast or for a good glass at sunset.
Domaine la Borniotte is a small-scale domain with 3 gites, maximum 10 persons. In the large enclosed garden of 1.4 hectares is a large shared swimming pool with sun beds and parasols. There is also a washing/drying/ironing room.
Domaine la Borniotte is within walking distance of picturesque Sainte Alvere with several shops, two bakers, three restaurants, terraces, hairdresser, bar-tabac, post office, tourist office, pharmacy and various medical facilities. There is a lively weekly market with the famous truffle market.
Bergerac airport and railway station are 30 minutes away, drop-off and pick-up is possible.
Towns and cities
It is wonderful to stroll through the many medieval towns. For example, visit Sarlat, Périgueux, Domme, Limeuil or Trémolat. Our own Sainte-Alvère is famous for its truffle market. Or follow the gastronomic wine route through the Bergerac, past more than 130 vineyards and wineries.
Castles
The region has many imposing 'knight's castles'. Chateau Beynac, Chateau Castelnaud, Chateau de Hautefort, le Domaine de Campagne and Chateau de Losse, for example, are more than worth a visit. Also special: chateau des Milandes, where Josephine Baker lived for twenty years
There is also more than enough to do for active holidaymakers. Canoeing on the Dordogne or the Vézère, beautiful walks and MTB routes, hitting a ball on one of the four golf courses in the area: it's all possible. At 10 minutes you will find the Aquatic Lagoon swimming paradise. Tennis and midgetgolf at 5 minutes
Caves
There are also beautiful caves hidden under the urface of the already beautiful landscape, often of inestimable prehistoric value. Think of the world-famous caves of Lascaux, but also the Grotte du Grand Roc, de Grotte de Font-de-Gaume, and de Gouffre de Proumeyssac.
