Powis Castle, which started life as a medieval fortress, is a must, especially for its beautiful gardens and collection of paintings, sculpture, furniture, and tapestries. Other popular attractions a little further afield include Llanrhaeadr Waterfall (the tallest in the UK), Portmeirion and the Mountains of Snowdonia, the Centre for Alternative Technology and King Arthur’s Labyrinth.
