Our trip got off to a late start. We were 1.5 to 2 hours later than we had originally planned. But Gary was understanding and waiting on us to get there at 930 at night. He left us a bottle of wine for our stay. The home is gorgeous, clean and cozy. But that view of the sunset over the mountains was absolutely beautiful!!! I would definitely stay here again.
Host was amazing. Gave my group some insight of the area and had the wood fireplace ready to go. The host had the cabin very well stocked with household items and toiletries. The views of the surrounding mountains were absolutely beautiful. My only complaint is that the photos of the listing showed a telescope on the back porch, but there was no telescope to be found upon arrival. The overall experience was absolutely wonderful

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Dirty and outdated
Great location and beautiful scenery. Inadequate pots/pans/utensils. Had to clean bathrooms and kitchen when we arrived! The Host was very friendly. I didn’t confront him with the issues.
This property owner straight up BLOCKED us from doing our event, EVEN THOUGH it was listed as A-Okay per the written property guidelines “events are allowed up to 30 guests, weddings”
Saying “i’Ve hAD tROubLe in the pAsT wITh tHE pOLiCe” ….and said no to parties!? The week of the wedding event! And then claimed he never put that on there and this and that vrbo put it on there….. AND he approved this and knew about this event for a month and half earlier….what a joke of a host. DO NOT USE this host — he should be off the platform
And VRBO support was absolutely useless— they never contacted me to follow up on my request, and each time I checked on the request, they kept telling me the same thing, that “GLOBAL CONNECT NEEDS TO MANUALLY REVIEW THIS.” I never received any communication about a resolution, even several weeks after my initial request.
Exactly what you’d expect for a quick mountain retreat. Gary was a wonderful host… even sharing the best places to eat in the area along with what to order! We had everything we needed.
It is difficult to tell on the pictures how the main downstairs bathroom is basically open to the bedroom on one side, which means that for the other two bedrooms when someone is using the toilet it wakes up whomever is sleeping in that open bedroom. Also because the bedroom downstairs is open to the stairs which lead to the main top floor it means that whenever anyone is on that floor they must be very quiet otherwise it will disturb the people sleeping downstairs. Also, the double bedroom downstairs has an opening at the bottom of the door that means that light and sound from other places in the house go through to it. The mattresses in the single/bunk beds were super thin and uncomfortable. And the bed in the main upstairs bedroom was very creaky. All of this meant no one slept very well while we were there. Also, the fridge was not clean when we arrived (had to clean out brown muck from it) and there were crumbs under the toaster that needed to be cleaned. The whole place overall was reasonably clean, but could have done with a really deep clean. The towels were fairly thin and nearly threadbare. Communication was a bit sporadic - we tried calling several times on the day of arrival to give a more precise ETA, both the landline and other number given (although one number was incorrect/one number not right), and no one answered. But onto the positives...
The views! Wow! Stunning!
Great that there was a washer & dryer for use. And grill and firepit were good to use too.
The owner built this home himself. It’s filled with great woodwork and a terrific wrap deck. Two story fireplace is a piece of craftsmanship. 4 bedrooms with 2 full bathrooms
Open air views from extensive wrap around porch, open floor plan. We explired area during days but always returned home for dinner with beautifual sunsets. Old school family home with decades of evolving amenity amenities
Filthy dirty! Cobwebs , towels with holes, finger prints on drinking glasses, master bath with no door is where the guests have to pee, right in front of anyone in the master bath. Vrbo should remove this property.
I absolutely am furious with the host and vbro for not reaching out to me from my repeated attempts to contact them. I reached out to that host on Thursday b/f our trip to let him know out son-in-law had died tragically two days before and we just couldn’t come! My husband even called the phone number slushed on contact host and no one answered so he left the message and asked host to call us. NOT ONE SINGLE CALL OR EMAIL!
I am furious. I am dealing with a broken daughter and grandson and no one reached out. We only asked that they hold our payment and let me change dates to a time when my family has begun to heal and we can be away .
I am beginning to wonder if the Host was a scam host and I have been taken in financially! Someone SHOULD reach out to me to resolve this issue! VBRO! YOU MUST DO BETTER FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS AS I TRIED TO REACH YALL AS WELL!
Was only able to be there one night, would have loved to stay longer! Great place! Amazing views! Close to trails/waterfalls! Close to town! Unbelievable fire pit! An older cabin with lots of charm! Owner provided fresh fruit and cookies!
Plenty of room for the 4 of us who wanted to go fishing near by and just relax and enjoy the mountains. We really appreciated the host taking the time to meet us at check in and give a tour of the Chalet. It made us feel like he wanted to ensure our stay was pleasant. He gave ideas of where to eat and where to vist. When we did have a question he repsonded promptly. The property itself was very cozy and comfortable. We would definitely go back again! :-)
The chalet was perfect for my family to be together! The view of the mountains is spectacular. Mr Abbott was there to greet us and show us the property. We had everything we needed! I would love to stay here again!

Overnight stay
The cabin location was great for what we wanted. Communication with the owner leading to out stay was challenging. I had messaged him a few times with questions about check-in processes with no response. A message the day before our trip finally led to a response. We had to meet the host at the cabin when we got there to get keys. That was a first for us. In other VRBO places we've stayed There's always been a code or combination to get in so that made it awkward. Also,There was no hot water in the upstairs bathroom
Location was good; close to Brevard which is a great town and close to hiking trails. We enjoyed the views and wonderful fireplace. The kitchen was well stocked.
The back porch view was wonderful. Gary was responsive to all our requests and we found him charming. The stay was the foundation for many family memories to be had. Local hiking was excellent.
went to Brevard for a wedding at Pretty Place.
The house was perfect.
