Beautiful villa, spacious rooms with a very large pool and grass area. We arrived in the dark and there is no villa name or house number on the wall, so it was not easy to find with only the map pin as the house is hidden behind a wall and trees. Unfortunately, the holiday was spoilt due to the safety issues for the children or elderly in the bedrooms. The stairs in the 2 mezzanine bedrooms were extremely steep and you could only put half of your foot on the treads. Therefore we could not use these beds, and that meant our party of 8 did not work in this villa. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable because of the framework. The Annex stairs were normal and safe. The stairs in the main house up to the bedrooms are open part of the way, so again dangerous for children. Air cons were in all bedrooms, but the villa could do with one in the lounge. They do have fans up in the mezzanine bedrooms which we took downstairs to use in lounge. A point to note is that all shower cubicles are the same size and small. So due to the fact that we did not have the required (usable) beds for our party, and comparing the bedroom design with the price I paid, I have downgraded my star rating.

The property was difficult to find - the satnav coordinates took the driver to behind the property rather than the front gate entrance.The most disappointing aspect was the inundation of wasps around the pool which just made using the pool less enjoyable - this isn't a criticism of the owner or the villa management company as they did respond promptly when we reported our suspicion of a wasps nest on the property - but we think the villa is one of only 3 or 4 villas in the area that have a pool and wasps need water just like all creatures. However, we improvised with mosquito burners by the pool steps which did reduce the issue a little (until we wanted to get into the pool at which point wasps would suddenly congregate at the pool steps again! ) and we lived with the inconvenience OK.Some of the other aspects of the villa are 'querky' (such as the kitchen area) but overall it is a lovely villa in a quiet location with a beautiful garden.There is also a church just a few properties down from the villa that chimes the time every half hour between 07:00 an 23:00 - we liked this (no need to look at a watch to know the time) but on Sunday, there were traditional Greek 'calls' and 'bells'.There are several restaurants a short walk away from the villa, a mini-market just across the road and a Pharmacy a short walk away up the hill (where there were some cafes and another mini-market.There is also the Parasia Taverna around 10/15 minutes away which you must try!

Beautiful villa, spacious and well equipped. Lovely well kept garden and wonderful large pool. Only criticism would be that the stairs to both the mezzanine sleeping areas are incredibly steep, was fine for our 21 year old daughter but not suitable for really young or old.Great location, right in the middle of the village opposite a mini market, short walk to various tavernas and coffee places, nice bakery for fresh bread and croissants.Next to church so bells chime and on Sunday morning loud service on speaker but we loved this. Great view of the ever present mountains in the background.Short drive to 2 beach places with lots more shops and places to eat. Easy to park. Non stop beaches down the coast, spoilt for choice.Chania an easy 30 min drive for a bigger place. Knossos was under 2 hours. We drove to the south too through the mountains which is worthwhile.
