About this property

19th Century House, Private Parking, nr Painswick

Summary:

The Rectory, a historic 6-bedroom house built in 1850, offers a spacious retreat perfect for groups of families & couples. It features 1 super king, 3 king, 1 double, and 1 twin room, with 4 en-suites & a separate bathroom. Enjoy a well-equipped kitchen, cosy living room & utility room. Outside, relax in the large garden, with ample off-road parking & EV charger (flat fee £15). Ideally located near the Cotswold Way and Painswick, it’s a perfect base for exploring this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Space:

Built in 1850, The Rectory is a large, Victorian double-fronted home of traditional Cotswold stone. It's made up of 6 bedrooms across 3 storeys, with ample space for 12 guests to spread out and relax.

On the top floor, you'll find a super-king room, kingsize room, double room and twin room. Of which, two have ensuites and the other two share a family bathroom with bath. Please note, the house is on an A road and the two front bedrooms will experience some noise from the road. However, the back two are much quieter.

On the first floor, you'll find a further two king size bedrooms, each with it's own ensuite bathroom. The living room with smart TV and dedicated study are also found on this level.

Head downstairs to the ground floor to find the spacious, open-plan kitchen and dining room. It's modern and well-equipped with everything needed to cook up feasts for larger groups. It's also got a wood burner for cosy dinner parties! Next door, you'll also find a downstairs WC and handy utility room.

Outside you can enjoy a spacious garden with ample-off road parking. There is also an EV charger available (more info in notes).

Adjacent to the Rectory is another home called the Coach House. You may encounter the owners staying at the Coach House, however, it is detached, self-contained and has its own parking, the drive and outside space is shared. Please feel free to say hi, they are very friendly!

Guest Access:

Guests have private access to a self-contained house including six bedrooms, four en-suite shower rooms, a bathroom, kitchen, lounge and utility room. As well as access to the garden and driveway with ample parking.

The Neighborhood:

The Rectory is in a small, remote village without any shops, but there is a pub! The nearest shops are in Stroud (10 minute drive) or Painswick (5 minute drive).

We are also near the beautiful Cotswold Way which runs through Painswick, with lovely country walks and plenty of opportunities for cream teas.

Getting Around:

The best way to get around is by car and the property is located on the main road between Stroud and Gloucester. Ample parking can be found on the large driveway. There is also a Wallbox Pulsar Plus EV Charger available for use for £15/charge. Their website states "It has tethered options for Type 1, Type 2 and GB/T vehicles. Our Pulsar family is compatible with any hybrid and electric car."

Stroud train station is 10 minutes drive away and Gloucester train station is a 20-minute drive. Stroud to London Paddington by train takes 90 minutes, and Gloucester to Bristol by train takes an hour. Bus routes 62 and 63 run through our village between Gloucester and Stroud.

Other Things to Note:

The property is on a busy A road. Four of the bedrooms are at the front of the house and will experience noise from the road.

Lovely house with a great backyard for the kids to play in. Host was very helpful and easy to communicate with. Most of the bedrooms was en-suites which is really rare to find and especially nice when staying as a group of families
