One bit of change advised me by Vrbo: Vrbo now collects from you the Wisconsin State and Sauk County and Town of Merrimac tax of 12.5%. The taxes are on the room rate only...per night. ___________________________________________________________________ Unit 4 is perched amongst a canopy of oak and birch trees - coffee on the balcony in the company of leaves and branches over 2-stories from the ground! Unit 4 is one of eight condominiums in a building nestled amongst a mature birch/oak forest with glimpses over the Lake Wisconsin valley. Casual, whimsical, bright furnishing. Italian ceramic floor in bath. New step-in rainfall shower. Woodburning stove insert in the original, beautiful, stone fireplace. Small firepit outside for quiet summer/fall eves; or hearty-folks roasting s'mores in winter. Lovely, oiled-teakwood laminate floors LR and Hall - new faux-wood laminate in kitchen and bedrooms. You may find yourself resting on a pillowcase embroidered by my Cornish grandmother; or snuggled under a quilt made of squares of men's suit material; or find pencil drawings sent from the trenches of WWI from grandpa Pengelly (Tom) to grandma Pengelly (Olivia) in Cornwall. Poke about...little surprises all over. AND...and whole bass fiddle case of books presiding over the living room!
Wildlife sightings - deer, turkey, raccoon, owl, and birds of all sorts fly over or walk through these remarkable surrounds. Marvelous earthrise and earthsets. I think the trees up here talk.
Parfrey's Glen official entrance is a 20-minute walk away. Devil's Lake is a 10-minute ride. Devil's Head Ski/Golf Resort is 200 yards down Bluff Road. Quaint Merrimac FREE ferry (seasonal). Cascade Mountain Ski/Snowboarding or Wollersheim Winery/Sauk City - 20-minute ride. Attraction notebook available in unit.
There are several new distilleries under construction in Baraboo...and Vintage Brewery is up and going in nearby Sauk City/Prairie du Sac area.
Plenty of QUIET. Noise restriction after 11p. You could write your book here! Remarkable views. Friendly condo neighbors.

Delighted to have this family inhouse. They lived here so thoughtfully the only evidence of their stay were the towels to wash. ;)
Hoping to see them again!
The stay was overall a good experience. Lesleigh made us feel welcome and had excellent communication. Only complaint is that heaters are a little noisy which did disrupt our sleep.

Thanks Ken...we are checking out the baseboard noise you mentioned.
I know it's possible to hear winter night noises from neighboring Devil's Head grooming their slopes right across Bluff Road...which might have contributed to your bothered sleep.
Please do come again.
Lesleigh
Lesleigh is the best! Her place is warm and inviting. I have stayed here a few times and it always feels like home away from home. The place is always clean and has some extra amenities in the bathroom and kitchen. Our group stays here in the winter for a few days to go snowboarding at Devil’s Head Resort. Staying here definitely beats the resort hotel! The view from the balcony is beautiful and I’m sure it is even better in warmer seasons. We will be back next year for sure.

Fun to welcome back Friends!
Glad to know you'll be here during other seasons too...I admired that you hit the slopes (and that Devil's Head was great about grooming)...
Plenty to explore in the surrounding forests, trails, and Devil's Lake (better named Spirit Lake by deeply respectful original tribes)...
Looking forward to your next visit...
Lesleigh
We loved the place. Host is amazing, place is so homey and comfortable. Clean, so well appointed. Just perfect! We will be back.

Delighted that you found so much to appreciate up here in the woods :)
...and I appreciated the thoughtful way you lived there!
Thank you for including Rocky Glen in your away time.
Come back.
This was a lovely place to stay. So close to many things to do in the area yet nice and quiet here. The host was very helpful and provided suggestions for things to do in the area as well.

Happy to have you here.
We are all excited welcoming the Fall colors...I know you can imagine how our woods explodes with color...specially as the sun goes down...shadows dancing with the breezes...
Please come again.
Location was great and felt very secluded and peaceful. Decor in the unit had many personal touches and felt so charming! Unfortunately we had an issue with insects in the bedroom, for which Lesleigh agreed to a partial refund

Oh Pranav! You didn't just have 'insects' but yellowjackets which invaded the air conditioner in your bedroom. I am so grateful you left quickly and safely.
We are replacing all of the air conditioners and ensuring the new space they are in is as secure as possible against intruders.
Much appreciation for your kind, and honestly comprehensive review.
I hope you will find your way back here again.
Extremely comfortable and cozy, we absolutely loved staying here and hope to return one day. Thank you!

The very best job these guests made of...intending to ski...and our neighbor ski resort with no snow. (!) So meadow walks and evenings by the fire...ahhhh!
Absolutely beautiful place! Very close to Devils Lake and the Wisconsin Dells, as well as downtown Baraboo! Location is great and in a secluded wooded area. Lesleigh was incredible and we got an entertaining and helpful tour of the place when we got there. My friends and I had a wonderful time and will be coming back should we be vactioning in the area again! Thank you!! :)

We created a mutual delight in having met. They were wonderful guests...as individuals, neighbors, and fellow appreciaters of the immediate forest surrounds and close proximity of Devil's Lake (properly Spirit Lake).
Very much looking forward to welcoming any friend configuration they create again.
Jacquelyn...and you missed the heat wave we are now starting! Whew.
Please come again!

Me comfy in the living room - fireplace blazing nearby and watching something wonderful on PBS...probably the Dicken's series...what teriffic tear-jerkers!
Why they chose this property
How could I NOT have fallen in love with this place!? (I didn't mean to...it was a first project for me/my chef brother.) Although not a skiier or golfer, I AM a walker and I just step out the door and I'm nearly in the woods...AND stepping out on the balcony puts you eye--level with tree tops. Only squirrels, cranes, turkey vultures, racoons, and lovely little birds get a better view.
What makes this property unique
Peace - to watch the trees 'converse' with each other - the neverending changes framed by each window to the forest - the very occasional concert (Los Lobos a several several years ago) or fireworks from Devil's Head Resort on New Year's Eve - sitting around the firepit on a summer or fall evening - the water from a quartzite well in the basement (it bypasses the water softening system otherwise required for the building) - staying up the nights male owls joust in the air above our parking lot (I always think of the Quiddich field from Harry Potter.)
