About the host
Hosted by Florin
A few years ago, irremediably and abruptly in love with Porumbacu de Sus, we bought a property in the village. A parental home, a barn and a summer kitchen were the three existing buildings that we completely renovated. Johannes Bertleff is the architect with whom we embarked on a journey that lasted about two and a half years. It was a meeting that resulted in some beautiful spaces in which traditional constructive elements were preserved as structures or foundations of modern, bright spaces, with funky accents. There are many spectacular elements, stairs, windows, furniture elements, floors, the courtyard and the back garden that were combined not by chance and live happily. But that energy that made us say I would like to live here has been preserved.
Why they chose this property
Porumbacu de Sus is a place that vibrates in a special way and you can't feel it unless you take a walk through the village. There is a concern among some residents or entrepreneurs for the preservation of the old architecture with its constructive elements (scaled tiles, specific wooden gates, windows with special sashes and special colors of the facades). Over many houses, the hard passage of the years has laid a nostalgia that is worth savoring.
