The stay was awesome, we were the first so there were a couple of little things that needed to be adjusted but the host and family were so great, they answered quickly and couldn't have been better!
This was an unusual property with several challenges, but also delights which made the stay special. It is built into the cliff just below the Sorrento Hwy, directly above the Vico Equense marina. (There is little road noise) The main house has been lovingly remodeled, but note it has no indoor livingroom; however, there is an enclosed solarium a few yards away with seating. The pool is on a lower terrace 25 feet down, accessed by a long and easy ramp. The pool gets no sun and is quite chilly. The landscaping of the gardens is exceptional. The worst part is the parking. You get a spot in a parking area 1/2 km away - have to walk right next to traffic to get there. However, shoulder parking is available (at least late afternoon) across the road, but you have to cross constant busy traffic which is perilous. There are several restaurants and a deli/grocery (La Cascina - highly recommended!)within walking distance.Note the owners might be confused about tacking on a cleaning fee, paid in cash, but you have already paid that thru VRBO, so bring your invoice. You do have to pay a little tax in cash.If you are up to the challenges this place could be an unusual and exceptional experience.

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback — we truly appreciate guests who take the time to share their impressions.
Yes, this is indeed an unusual property, but in the best possible sense: it is an authentic 1850 Mediterranean residence, with all the charm and character of traditional architecture from that era.
Just to clarify a few points: the villa is not built into a cliff, but rather stands on one of the most beautiful stretches of the Gulf of Naples, directly facing Mount Vesuvius. It is only five minutes from the sea, along the main road to Sorrento. Because the property sits below road level, there is no traffic noise at all.
The pool was originally an old water collection tank, which we preserved and adapted in full compliance with local regulations. Its position is therefore historically and architecturally unique. At the end of September, it receives less sunlight, but starting next season, it will be heated for guests’ comfort.
Regarding parking, we understand it can be a challenge throughout this area, which is very popular and has limited space. We are actually quite fortunate to provide a private parking area less than a two-minute walk from the house — a rare advantage for homes in this location.
As for the cleaning fee, we apologize for any misunderstanding. We manage several large properties, and all require final cleaning costs due to the size of the houses and the need for specialized staff. We will make sure this is communicated more clearly in future bookings.
We believe staying with us is not a “challenge,” but rather a wonderful journey into the past of the Sorrento Peninsula — where history meets comfort, and every corner offers breathtaking views.
