About this property

Room in 120-year-old country retreat, ideal for adventurers

Stay in the charming 120-year-old Windlestraw Lodge on 10 acres by the River Tweed in the Scottish Borders. Perfect for hikers, mountain bikers, and anglers, our lodge offers private bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a cozy sunroom, and a bar area with a fireplace. Enjoy a hearty breakfast each morning. Ideal for those seeking relaxation or adventure in a beautiful, historic setting.

The room features a king bed for a comfortable night’s sleep. There’s a wardrobe with extra pillows, a blanket, and hangers, plus a coffee and tea station with regular and decaf coffee, a variety of teas, hot cocoa, and a few treats. You’ll also find some local guides and information to help plan your stay. The en suite bathroom includes shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, and a hair dryer.

Guests are welcome to enjoy the bar area and sunroom, where a continental breakfast is served each morning. The bar area offers two inviting leather chairs by a cozy fireplace, along with a curated selection of books for your enjoyment. A variety of drinks are available at the bar for an additional fee. The sunroom features a comfortable sofa, an assortment of board games and puzzles, and stunning views of the front grounds and rolling hills — the perfect setting to relax and unwind.

Our 10-acre property is a peaceful haven, featuring a variety of trees such as cherry, birch, apple, and plum, alongside an array of beautiful flowers and plants. Take a stroll around the grounds and see what’s blooming, and be sure to stop by the greenhouse to check out what we’re growing! You'll see a wide variety of local birds flocking to our bird feeders, such as chaffinches, pheasants, robins, and much more. Later this spring, we’ll be welcoming chickens to the property, adding a little extra charm to the landscape.

For outdoor enthusiasts, there’s a trail that starts from the back field and winds through the hills behind Windlestraw, leading to Caberston Farm Shop, where you can enjoy hot drinks and café food. The hills are also home to fantastic mountain biking trails. We’re just a 10-minute walk from the River Tweed, and there are plenty of hiking routes nearby, including around Walkerburn and Glenbenna.

Please note: We have cats in our home. If you are allergic or not comfortable around cats, this may not be the best fit for you.
