About this property
The Old Mill Cottage
Nestled in the picturesque Camel Valley with renowned walking, cycling, scenery and footpaths accessed from the doorstep, this beautiful barn conversion is in the idyllic grounds of a 16th Century manor which is the perfect base for a memory-making family break. The historic market town of Camelford is just 2 miles from the doorstep and is ideally situated for exploring the wild walks of Bodmin Moor (16 miles) and the high cliffs, hidden coves, fishing villages and surfing beaches that make the North Cornwall coast so irresistible. Keen outdoor explorers can head to nearby Wadebridge 10.5 miles away to cycle or stroll the Camel Trail, an 18-mile-long trail following the Camel Estuary to Padstow 18.5 miles away. Enjoy a traditional bucket and spade day at the seaside along the gloriously golden shores of Bude 19 miles away, which offers some of this area’s best surfing conditions. Tintagel, home to the magnificent Merlin’s Cave, can be reached within 7 miles.
Beneath the rustic stone exterior lies a sanctuary of homely charm in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner at the heart of this home-from-home, flooded with natural sunlight from the abundance of windows. Combining rustic elements such as a roaring gas wood burner effect fire and beautifully painted stonework with sumptuous, homely touches, this light and airy social space boasts a warming ambience that invites weary travellers to unwind, cook, and dine late into the evening; the stunning country cottage-style décor perfectly reflects the delightfully green surrounding scenery. Rich in country cottage-style features and original exposed stone, the king-size bedroom and triple bedroom, which contains three single beds, provide a wonderfully peaceful retreat to return to at the end of a busy day’s exploration. The freestanding bath in the spacious family bathroom not only adds a touch of pure elegance but also offers the ultimate remedy for tired walking muscles. Enjoy the tranquil surroundings from the comfort of the charming bench on the shared lawn.
