Overlooking the rolling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds – a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – the lodge is located in the charming village of Raithby, near Spilsby, and offers an idyllic retreat for walkers, nature lovers, and anyone eager to explore this often-overlooked corner of England.
The Lincolnshire Wolds are renowned for their sweeping landscapes, gentle valleys, and patchwork of farmland and wildflower meadows. Here, you’ll find a slower pace of life and an abundance of scenic walks and cycling routes right from your doorstep. Take a hike along the Viking Way or explore nearby market towns such as Louth and Horncastle, both rich in character and history. Louth, known as the "capital of the Wolds", is famed for its Georgian architecture, local food markets, and the towering spire of St James’ Church. Meanwhile, Horncastle is a haven for antique lovers and brims with independent shops, cafés, and tearooms.
For those craving a day by the sea, the beautiful Lincolnshire coast is less than a 30-minute drive away. Visit the sandy beaches of Skegness or the quieter shores of Anderby Creek, perfect for birdwatching and beachcombing. For a taste of heritage, Gunby Hall, a National Trust property, is just a short drive from the lodge, offering stunning gardens and historic interiors to explore.
After a day of adventure, return to your luxurious woodland hideaway. The lodge itself has been finished to an exceptional standard, blending rustic charm with modern comforts. A cosy wood-burning stove forms the heart of the open-plan living space, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere on cooler evenings. Large picture windows and French doors bring the outside in, offering uninterrupted views of the surrounding trees and rolling hills beyond. The interiors are stylish yet snug, with plush furnishings, a fully equipped kitchen, and thoughtful touches throughout.
Step outside onto your private deck to enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine as the sun sets behind the Wolds. Birds sing in the trees and wildlife may wander through the woodland – it’s a truly magical setting.
